Before WE get too happy, let's consider a few things:
--Democrats are in it for the long game. They'd rather lose a few seats here and there (and this would have been a pickup, not a loss) in the midterms and gain them all back (and the White House) in the generals.
--This WAS in fact a GOP seat prior to yesterday. We "gained" nothing.
--The margin of victory was less than 2 percent.
--Turnout for special elections, like midterms, tends to be lighter than elections in presidential election years. Yesterday was no exception, with just under 40 percent of voters casting ballots.
--Young was elected for 42 years not for any conservative values per se, but because as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, he had a BIG say in brining home federal money to his district.
Enjoy the moment. But only for a moment.
