Ok. so he has a record now? How was he able to posses a firearm after the law was passed that anyone with those kinds of charges can't be a gun owner and in possesion of one? I'm not getting how this can be?
He doesn't have a record. All charges were dropped. He had two incidents when he was 21 (7 years ago).
The first was pushing a cop who was arresting a friend of his. (The friend was running a bar and accused of serving underage drinkers.) The charges were dropped and George took a class.
The second was not long after that: he and his girlfriend filed his and hers domestic violence charges. The judge dropped all the charges and told them that they needed to work on things themselves.
George was 21 at the time of both of these incidents. He is now 28. He has been "squeaky clean" since then, and since all charges were dropped, he officially has no record.
To be fair, Minnesota Public Radio reports that Trayvon had no juvie arrest record. However, his three suspensions at the school were all recent: for attendance, graffit (tagging), and drugs. These all happened within the past year, indicating that Trayvon had been having a bad year and seemed to be on a downward spiral.
