Question: Were the bodies of any Japanese pilots recovered after the Pearl Harbor attack?

If not, how are we so sure that it wasn't German pilots flying planes in Japanese markings?

The Germans had a history of doing that sort of thing. They painted tanks with Polish insignia to justify their invasion of that country.

Hitler knew that as a practical matter he was already at war with the United States and that his only chance was to neutralize the U.S. before they could re-arm. Unlike Japan, Germany had already exchanged fire with the U.S. when a U-boat was attacked by an American destroyer.

The U.S. navy was frantically building ships and Hitler knew his U-boats only had a few months where they could safely attack U.S. shipping. (Attacks off the East Coast stopped seven months after Pearl Harbor).

So why are we so smug in our denunciation of Blutarsky?

Isn't there a possibility that he was right all along?

Why say you?

Well, I am pretty sure this idiot is just making fun of the dungeon, but... then... the next in line spouts forth:

1. If I remember correctly, the Zero's range was pretty much Japan to Hawaii.

It was a suicide run from the beginning because they couldn't have returned without running out of fuel shortly into the rebound side of the trip.

I'm pretty sure Germany didn't have anything that small with a range much greater than that either.

As for Bluto - "LET'S DO IT!!!!!"

I would hope that hoops got Doolittle and Japan mixed up...

2. If this is a serious question

my response would be that there were Japanese casualties at Pearl Harbor plus the Japanese have never tried to deny it.

Not quite.

The Mitsubishi Zero had a range of a little over 3,000 miles.

Japan is 4,000 miles from Hawaii.

That was my dad's ship!  The DD147 USS Roper a four stacker, first recorded sinking of a U boat off the US coast.  There was even a bit of controversy to the story as the Captain stopped to pick up survivors and during the rescue operation a radio call came in about another U-boat in the area.  The Captain immediately suspended the rescue operation and while getting under way they had sucked quite a few German sailors into the screws who were waiting for rescue.

Hey, I had some model airplanes that were half magnesium....and they were "brilliant" when they crashed and burned.

...and today on TV, I watched the movie "1941". First time I've ever seen it. I think that movie is where the DUmmies learned all about WW2.

I thought the Zeroes that hit Pearl Harbor were launched from carriers in the Pacific, not from the mainland (Japan).  The Japanese had attacked Wake Island the same time as the the Pearl Harbor attack was carried out, but that never seems to get reported much.
