Only one problem with vesta's scenario: Conocophilips is the largest oil producer in Alaska, not BP or any of their subsidiaries.

BP is bigtime North Sea oil, or was until this blowout. They've sold a big chunk of their assets there to pay for the Gulf cleanup.
