A lady friend who is in her 70's asked me to recommend a laptop computer for her that does the basic "stuff."
She doesn't do much on my computer when she uses it.
She is a complete novice and has no desire to do anything more than check email and play games!
When I say games, I don't mean "games" that gamers play!
She only plays card and board games that I purchased for her from Hoyle!
(Very resource light gaming)
She would like either a 2 in 1 touch screen or a simple touch screen .. whichever is the least expensive.
A mac is out of the question since I don't know, and can't teach her how to use it .. plus the mac is so much more money?
Any help will be much appreciated!

Sounds like a tablet like an iPad might be more appropriate...and cost effective.

Look into a Samsung Galaxy tablet. Or maybe a Barnes & Noble Nook (made by Samsung, IIRC) or Amazon Fire. Obviously, go for the full-sized ones (my Galaxy A is 10.1").

My wife got a new Asus Transformer and it's working out really nice.
Touch screen and keyboard so you can use it however you like, keyboard is detachable converting it to a large tablet if that's what you like.
I would definitely avoid Chromebooks unless you just want as cheap as possible. I've never owned or used a chromebook personally, but the kids have them for school and they hate the things.
If money is no object, the Microsoft Surface tablets are REAL nice, just also REAL pricey.

If this is just an internet person, I'd focus on the memory more than the size of the SSD disk since they aren't really storing files.

IMO, whether an Android or iPad, definitely get a bluetooth keyboard for it.
I can't speak to iPads, but file management capability on an Android tablet is pretty minimal. But it can be connected to a regular computer, and it looks like a flash drive. Once connected, you can move/copy files as you need or want.
