Have you ever considered adding an admin who isn't a cisgendered, able-bodied, straight, white male?

I think it would go a long ways towards avoiding the appearance that the DU admins aren't sensitive to the concerns of women, gays, racial minorities, transpeople, and so forth.

But I think in a way, we added literally thousands of admins who aren't cisgendered, able-bodied, straight, white males when we moved into DU3. For the first decade of this website's existence the three DU administrators had complete dictatorial control, and we chose to voluntarily give it up. Being one of the three official admins on DU isn't actually a particularly powerful job anymore -- for the most part the members run the site, and as far as I can tell all points of view are well represented.

3. It's an absolute fact

that there are certain trolls here who take almost all threads about women and people of color and derail them with false accusations, false equivalency, and false butthurt.

Go into half the threads about #blacklivesmatter and you'll see the same assholes in there time and time again complaining that people just don't care about all the white men who get shot by the cops and why shouldn't it be #alllivesmatter?

Go into half the threads about women and sexual harassment or rape and there are the same exact assholes telling everyone how offended they are that someone once said that all men are potential rapists and how this hurts their tender feelings even though EVERY WOMAN KNOWS THAT ALL MEN ARE POTENTIAL RAPISTS.

One of the more notorious individuals went into a thread today about #blacklivesmatter to say that #GamerGate was the "pro-integrity" side of the debate and the anti-#GamerGate side "wasn't entirely innocent of wrongdoing either." Yes, he's defending the people who made rape threats against women who dared to have an opinion about video games.

You don't see this because you're one of the privileged class. Your fellow admins don't see this because they're in the privileged class too.

But women and people of color sure as shit see this, and we're pissed.

A Jury voted 4-3 to hide this post on Sat Dec 6, 2014, 03:24 PM. Reason: This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

Its an ugly made up word to replace happy words such as 'sane', 'normal', and 'heterosexual'. DUmmies are not content to just eliminate words that make them feel bad anymore, they also want to eliminate words that make others feel good.
