What's for Dinner ~ Friday ~ June 6th

By the way, dear old sweet Lu has a rather creative euphemism to explain the hookworm attacks and the resultant runnage, keeping her away from doing her job as hostess of the cooking and baking forum.

She calls it "a broken modem," but we know what it really is.

1. Home alone weekend!

My wife and daughters took off for a gal's weekend. So I'm on my own. So I plan on eating the junk food we normally don't ever eat. Chips and dip. Plenty of beer. Shrimp Tempura from Trader Joe's. And probably a late snack of cheese melted over Trisquits. Tomorrow I'll eat healthier.

2. Sliced ham and feta salad, with mixed greens, red onion and tomato.

It's either my go to sesame dressing or the ketchup/mayo/dijon concoction.

^^^had to do the "what's for supper?" thread on Tuesday because dear old sweet Lu had the runs.

3. Chinese

I'm making Chinese tonight:

--stir-fry vegetables (baby bok choy, carrots, etc.)
--tri-tip, marinated in teriyaki sauce
--potstickers (chicken & cilantro, from Trader Joe's)

I really want some noodles, but I've been gardening all day and know I will not be ambitious enough to make that, too.

^^^had to do the "what's for supper?" thread on Thursday because dear old sweet Lu had the runs.

Who puts a "ketchup/mayo/dijon concoction" on SALAD? gross.

This is just sad:

Carbon footprint be damned.  Judy wants her Canadian tomatoes.

Lastparker, I was going to say the same thing, but got busy.  Ketchup/mayo/mustard on salad?  Can you imagine what that mess looks like?

Hot dogs and bean sprouts in a tortilla.  I don't know what to say.  The good news is, that salmonella is often spread through bean sprouts.  Dangerous stuff.

Poor addled grasswipe Judy.

She's embarrassed that "tomato" isn't a foreign word, so she qualifies it as hydroponic and Canadian.

Another fancy menu from a bag lady who cooks on a hotplate.

Hot dogs and bean sprouts in a tortilla.  I don't know what to say.

Me either.  Who thinks up food like that?

Fizzgig, on Sat., was going to make a sweet potato and chickpea curry.

Think I'd rather eat the hotdog in a tortilla, minus the bean sprouts.

Hold the phone.  I loathe sweet potatoes, I hate chickpeas, and I detest curries.  Did she ever make it?  It must have looked like something out of NJCher's kitchen.  What utter disgusting slop!

In other words this means in her adult supervised cooking class Judy dumped a bunch of frozen Stouffers dinners into a pan and heated it up.
The resulting glop was an inspiration for her to open a Greek restaurant.

It will be a non-profit Greek restaurant, with free food for teachers and government workers, and all her employees will make at least $15 an hour.

They just want to rub our collective noses in the fact that they are eating fancier than us off our tax dollars.

Maybe this is one of those dishes she calls a gut bomb.

A gut bomb recipe would be as follows:

Take a handful of Doritos and toss onto a plate
Scoop a can of Hormel corned beef hash on top
Top with Velveeta cheese, cubed
Sprinkle with M&M's
Microwave, and enjoy!

Actually, if you microwave the doritos, with a can of Hormel chili and some grated cheddar cheese, that might work.  Minus the M&M's of course.  I would also throw on some diced tomato, green onion and sour cream to make it pretty....  :-)

You forgot to mention salt and pepper. It really does make a difference.

With Doritos, corned beef, and Velveeta you'll already be eating about a quarter cup of salt per serving.

Which is about the right amount.
