Lost in a sea of right-wing madness

 Unfortunately, I live in North Carolina, in a crappy small town. I am surrounded by rednecks and right-wingers, I am so tired of listening to my (ignorant) coworkers expound on things they know very little about. They, like every other right-winger, have absolutely no compassion or empathy for anyone. I also think they're pretty racist.
 
Put it this way, this town and these people are so awful that I am afraid of putting bumper stickers on my car that reflect my actual political beliefs. I'm pretty sure someone in this town woud key my car at the least, or puncture my tires or something.
 
When did everyone become so hateful? I've been reading stories about Bergdahl and apparently most people think he deserves to die. What happened to empathy? Where did we lose the ability to see things from someone else's perspective? Also, my coworkers were celebrating that botched execution a while back, while it made me almost sick to hear of it.
 
And then there's Tod Kincannon, the SC Republican whose Twitter feed is a cesspool of awfulness. He might be one of the most horrible people on the planet. I am really, really starting to hate most of my fellow Americans.
 
One of these days, I'm moving to a blue state and only hanging out with nice,kind, liberal people and I'm going to do my best to get rid of all the wingnuts from my life. It's just too short to spend any time or energy on trying to make them see the light, and they are too awful to be around.
 
I know part of this we can blame on Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, but I don't think our system is working. One awful, hateful political party and the other one unable to stand up to these people.
 
From my experience online, I knew Discussionist was going to be awful, taken over by the right, because that ALWAYS happens. It happens everywhere, online and off. So I've decided to spend my time in places where there are no wingnuts. I'm doing my time until I can leave here. This town has nothing to offer someone like me anyway.

IOW she's the town idiot and is tired of everyone pointing it out to her. In the future, she wants to hang out with other libs that are as stupid as she is since they won't notice what an idiot she is.

Doesn't matter where she goes, she'll be miserable and everyone around her will become more miserable because of her or, if they're already libs, on their own.

There's plenty of liberal enclaves in the 'red hell' that is North Carolina. This DUche chose poorly, she should have moved closer to Raleigh. There are enough liberals there to satisfy the biggest DUches. I feel no sympathy for her.
