Statistics on Immigrant Service Members on Active Duty:

Approximately 65,000 immigrants serve in the armed forces.

More than two-thirds of the foreign born serving in the armed forces are naturalized citizens.

The foreign born represent approximately 5 percent of all active-duty personnel.

Of all military branches, the navy has the highest number of foreign-born personnel.

Approximately 8 percent of those serving in the navy are foreign born.

Over 11,000 foreign-born women are serving in the armed forces.

The top two countries of origin for foreign-born military personnel are the Philippines and Mexico.
Latin America and the Caribbean accounted for the largest percentage of the foreign born, followed closely by Asia.

As of February 2008, there were 359 service members born in Western Asia and 826 born in south-central Asia.

Nearly 11 percent of those serving in the armed forces are of Hispanic origin.

Citizenship and the Armed Forces

A July 2002 executive order made noncitizen members of the armed forces eligible for expedited US citizenship.

More than 37,250 immigrant service members have become US citizens since September 2001.

USCIS has granted posthumous citizenship to 111 military personnel killed in the line of duty since September 2001.

The 2004 policy changes have allowed USCIS to hold naturalization ceremonies at US military bases around the world.

We should just recruit locals at our garrison towns to act as mercenaries on our behalf. No one cares if foreigners die fighting our wars.

now, what are the odds kono served? Check out the flag, however. A goodly part of the troops who served in the American revolution were 'foreigners'. Irony?

Just further proof of the lengths to which people who have NOT lived in the cradle of freedom will go to achieve it.

Having served among many of these great people during my time, their love for their new country was impressive.  Too bad the primitives can't and won't understand that.

Thats the point that I think the OP is missing.

They've got it stuck in their head that we hate all immigrants.  So they whipped this out at us.  They just don't realize that we're absolutely fine with people who come into this country legally.  It's the illegals that we don't want.

If I'm not mistaken, we do have illegals serving. Once they've completed a certain number of years, they're granted citizenship. I have no problem with it. It's a fast-track to citizenship and there is no better way to prove you love this country than to serve in her defense.

There are ways to be in the country legally and not be a citizen.  I'm willing to bet those are the non-citizens that are serving, since they would have the documentation, etc needed when signing on.

Kidding. H5 for the post. If you put on the uniform of the American military, or ever have, my respect for you is unmatched and citizenship is the least we can do for those who chose that path that were not citizens already.

A good number of the union army soldiers were Irish immigrants fresh off the boat. Some were drafted and others were paid to serve in a cowards(DUmmies) place.

Will that cause the libs to take that little fact to court and have the results declared unconstitutional?
