Oh my.

Of course, being from Boston, the primitive has no idea, no idea at all, what a real taco is.

One has to live around Texans to know.

I found a way to make sure my tomatoes don't fall off my taco.

I guess you would have to like sour cream for this little trick, but..

I mix my lettuce and tomatoes with a small amount of sour cream and they stick to the shell.

HMMMMMM..... Delicious! and a lot less messy!

franksolich has a question.

Why only "a small amount" of sour cream?

1. Good idea & another tip for a better taco

I like sour cream or crema Mexicana on mine, too. And it is annoying to have to clean up all the lettuce and tomato bits that drop on the plate, so next taco, we'll try this.

Here's an interesting trick with tacos. It mixes "crunchy" with "smooth." Use two tacos: the soft taco on the outside, and a crunchy taco on the inside. Put the filling inside the crunchy taco.

We learned about it at a restaurant in our town where we went for fish tacos. At the restaurant, the soft taco had grill marks on it. It makes for a more substantial taco, one that is not breaking up and falling all over the place, plus the added dimension of "crunchy" and "soft."

Whoa.  Wait.  What?

There's such a thing as using dead fish to fill a taco?

 :pisscontest:

I guess that's the "vomit" "smiley."

3. Mmmmm, I do this

A big soft taco shell folded over a small tostada shell (if I can find them) filled with taco stuff; 'mater, sour cream, lettuce, refried beans...then

Fried on a preheated heavy skillet till golden and toasty. It also works on grill. I cook mostly outside when a bazillion degrees outside.

It makes like a taco yumminess sandwich

4. At home we crunch our taco shells up into a bowl and put the the rest of the ingredients on top

Then eat it all with a spoon.

Figure it all goes the same place anyway.

And a beer on the side. Got to have a beer with tacos.

Don

It figures.

5. I cut my tomatoes into slices instead of diced

I put them on last, one on each side, not only don't they fall off but you can use them to hold everything in.

Tomatoes sliding off their taco is a big concern among DUmp chicks.
I think they use the sour cream to attract coach, after having checked out his photo on the internet.

That made me laugh :rotf: Properly prepared, fish and even shrimp tacos are excellent!  I had never heard of such a thing until I was stationed in Southern California but now I have a couple favorite places that I go to just for their incredibly delicious fish tacos.

I haven't tried the standard Southern California cilantro-and-red-onion beef taco, but I like a particular brand of spicy ground chorizo with my shrimp and fish.  Makes a great paella or soft taco.

FFS, yet again with making something simple so damn complicated.  I use my finger to shove any stray tomato piece back down on my taco.  If one is too ****ing refined to do that, employ a fork.
I can't begin to fanthom the total barren existence these dumbshits must lead, that questions such as this arise. :whatever:

You really should get out more, coach.  Fish tacos are actually pretty common down on the costal regions, particularly Baja.

And if you do get to Southern California, I highly suggest a trip to Rubio's or Wahoo's.  Fish tacos, each done in a slightly different style (Rubio's is fried, Wahoo's more grilled) but both are excellent.

Yeah, I get the same reaction from people in New England..."Fish TACOS???  EWWWWW!!!!" yet they don't think twice about mixing lobster meat with mayonaise and stuffing it on a roll.

franksolich, madam, very very very rarely deigns to use "smileys."

However, in this case it seemed appropriate.

Since the "smileys" are terra incognita to me, I looked over the whole array and selected the one that appeared to be the vomiting one, and considered it a bonus I got two, not one.
