Say a page/board/ has a political, dietary, environmental, academic or cultural stance you are completely against.

Is it really a constructive use of one's time to troll that page? I don't get why someone would care SO MUCH; or worse yet, assume the board's regular participants who WANT to be there care so much.

For example, would any one of US be on sites like The Washington Free Beacon, The Moonie Times, Faux News or Conservative Tribune? Likely not . . . no minds would be changed (or, really, even penetrated), and you'd just get peppered with logical fallacy after ad hominem after stupidity.

I never understood the logic behind insulting people, yet it's the conservative that's on a board pertaining to something they don't like and assume people care about what they have to say. But . . . . we're somehow the assholes here.

I think this is a shout out to us. Just say it DUmmie. Oh wait, you will get banned.

The point of trolling isn't to persuade, it's to agitate, so no, members of one political movement are not above it.

I'm a Mod on another conservative board. I don't promote it here and don't even post its name, just to avoid even the appearance of promoting it (BTW, none of this is news to CC staff). I do not view posting and discussing from an opposite POV "trolling". That said, we get a lot of spammers and some inept trolls who don't make it past the approval stage. And we ban several Prog/Lib trolls a year, generally. Other conservative-libertarian news/politics boards of which I've been a Mod or member have had to ban their shares of Prog/Lib trolls. So, no, opposite-view trolling is far from a conservative "thang".

On a political blog I used to frequent, we'd face regular trolling from liberal losers. One of the worst was a Marxist Eurotrash scumbag named Gunther (Apparently pronounced "Goon- ter," I used to nickname him "Goonturd" when he showed up). Before he eventually got banned, he would troll practically every post to puke out Communist crap about how America sucks, we're all ignorant rednecks, and he wants to bring about a Soviet- esque Communist "Utopia" (He maintained that the only reason why the Soviet Union failed was because the evil CIA somehow sabotaged their wheat crops to cause a famine, never mind that the CIA didn't even exist yet  by that time, and he of course skirted around all the brutality and human rights atrocities committed under the Soviet Union). Then, even after getting banned, he for quite a while kept trying to continue trolling the site using different user names, yet without varying up his writing style in the slightest, so it wasn't hard at all to keep deleting his repulsive posts.

They really didn't put much thought into their offerings.

But maybe the opposite is true.
