UPDATE: The man now suspected of killing a woman in Valley Village in North Hollywood has been deported twice and is in the US illegally. 

Omar Loera, 34, was in federal immigration custody last March and -could- have been deported, according to local and federal law enforcement sources, but instead was released on to the streets.

Loera's criminal record includes federal convictions for drug smuggling, according to court records reviewed by KFI NEWS.

Detectives in North Hollywood said Tuesday a DNA profile extracted from crime scene evidence has identified the suspected killer of Cheree Osmanhodzic, found stabbed to death and set on fire inside her apartment in July.

Notice how this individual had already been deported 2 previous times before he was caught and convicted for drug smuggling and how after he was released from federal custody he was set free in the U.S rather than deported a 3rd time.  I can't help but think that his victim would be alive today if the feds had done their job and deported him rather than set him free in the U.S.
