it's me
« on: December 25, 2008, 11:34:38 AM »
You know, when I joined here on January 3, 2007, I don't believe I made up an introductory thread.

Better late than never, one supposes.

I'm franksolich, from the Sandhills of Nebraska.  I've lived all over, but right now, that's where I live.  Single, average looking; college graduate (British history, and then later economics), livelihood general accounting work, free-lance; quiet, wallflower, shy, generally nonassertive, inobstrusive, and unnoticed.

Those rare times I call someone on the telephone--about three times a year, maybe--I open up with "Hi, this is me," and the person at the other end immediately knows it's franksolich.

My public-service work involves "quality checking" the primitives on Skins's island, to see if the primitives are what they say they are.

Any board is brightened by your presence, Coach! We are quite fortunate to have you.

Belated welcome (I got here 6 whole days before you ;) )

Greetings.  I find your posts illuminating and am looking forward to more of the same.

Actually, what happened was that I registered here, and unlike the case with Fat Che and the Rancid Rhodes message board, I received confirmation instantly, and got here in the twinkling of an eye.

I was really nervous, because I didn't know hardly anybody here; I knew the screen-names, but not the people.  I was hoping to slip in and be a wallflower for a while, until I figured things out.

But the same instant I signed on--it couldn't have been more than half a second--there was a personal message from Rebel, asking me to be a moderator for the DUmpster.  Right away, that message was there.  Like in half a second of my logging on for the first time.

I thanked Rebel, and told him I wanted to get the lay of the land first, used to things, and then I'd like to be asked in six months or so, if he still felt comfortable with the idea.

Then I went and wandered around, immediately bumping into Crazy Horse, my first friend here, the salt of the earth.

That all took place like, within the first 90 seconds I was here, and if I recall correctly, I never caught my breath to introduce myself.

It's silly, yes, but this being Christmas, let's have some cheer and jovality.

Even as a person who had been at TOS for only a couple of months before here I had quickly learned to look for your posts there when I would sign in.

I am very glad that now you are here.

A few years earlier in another lifetime,  and we might have met in person. I'm sorry that we never did...<<<<hugs>>>>

It feels odd welcoming you here when you arrived so far in advance of my joining, but welcome, Frank. You're one of the reasons I joined here, missed you and many of my old friends.  :cheersmate: It is like coming home.

Yeah.

It's really awkward that the scammers still consider franksolich some sort of evil superman who got so much done screwing up their half-baked plans to do something that didn't pan out.

It is like coming home.

Well, one can always have more than one home, though.

By the way, I gave notice at this place in the Sandhills of Nebraska, effective January 20, 2009 at 9:00:01 a.m. central time, as the 0bamaites and 0bamaite primitives promised us once the 0bamareich comes into being, things are going to be equalized, the wealth distributed among all, the richer getting poorer and the poor getting richer.

I'm assuming I'm getting Pedro Picasso's second house in Connecticut, because he owns two of them, and I own none.  2 + 0 = 2/2 = 1 house for Pedro Picasso, 1 house for franksolich.

The cats are all agog and excited about moving to Connecticut.
