Checking in from NorthCountryLand...it's snowing and blowing and about 10 degrees.  Got into work OK, and no power outages.  So far so good.  We're getting wallopped today with the volume. 

NHSparky, I had a good mind to give you a slap after all that whining on page 1 or so.  Now you're in your pajamas.  I didn't slap ya, though.  Enjoy your snow day!

Heard from my brother, in Chicago, last night about 8pm my time...he'd already been out twice shoveling. Since they've moved they need to invest in a snow blower. I reminded him to be careful....he's no longer 20.  :evillaugh:

We never did get the rain that Chris got, though the winds finally came in. Snow flurries are possible west of me, as our temps have dropped 30degees since about 1am, and continuing to go down.


Sparky, that really sucks that you had to go in... :(

From NW NJ, ice everywhere, still sleeting, hoping it changes to rain this afternoon to melt some of it because it's supposed to go down to the teens tonight. We're going to try to get out of the house this afternoon, I'm going crazy and everything is clean in the house.

Oh geez, Sparky -- that's infinite suck right there . . . please be careful!

Tots and Thor -- Atlantic City Electric has started sending us offers to install one of their thermostats for free (whee!  :hammer:) so they can 'regulate' our power usage during peak power times which, of course, is utility-speak for we're going to have rolling blackouts anyway but we'll make sure we take out your house first! Always gives me a good laugh before I pitch it in the trash.

Upstate NYers and NEers . . . hope you're all safe!  My BIL in Plattsburgh has said this year has brought more snow than all of the 25 yrs he's lived up there.

Lots of rain and 40 degrees here in SJ . . . Ballygrl, be careful!  Hopefully the rain line will track a bit more north for you guys.

Day 2 of no school. Means I'm missing two biology classes and stats.  :yahoo: Though sitting around is getting boring. And I have a doctors appointment on campus tomorrow and I hope they don't reschedule it.

Helped get a girl unstuck from the ice yesterday evening on my way home from dropping off something from the ex's. She spun her Suburban out and couldn't get going again. Fortunately a truck with a tow chain came by and we got her moving again.

Played football in the snow yesterday with some of my fraternity brothers when the windchill was -1. That was fun. And smart...  :whatever:

And now I'm just going to sit here and wait for the blackout. It's already hit some of my friends here in Denton.

Problem is, any rain you get 1--ain't gonna melt all the snow, 2--will just sit on the frozen ground and not really run off.  Couple that with the temps in the teens tonight, and well...

Oh Karin, of all the times . . . good grief! Do you know yet if it can be fixed?  We had that happen to us in Feb. '96 when I was home on maternity leave with a 2 month old . . . we had to replace the whole furnace (it was a cheap piece of crap the previous owners had bought).  I spent 2 days holed up on the second floor with the baby and portable heaters while the furnace guys replaced it and put in new ductwork. Fun times  ::)
