Yeah, but the politicians are kind of a no-brainer.  I think we should think outside that box.  There are PLENTY of assholes out there.  Let's get creative!

American Asshole of the Year in Movies: N/A (I do not watch many movies)

American Asshole of the Year in Business: Ted Turner (for calling for a worldwide adoption of China's One Child Policy while having five children of his own)

American Asshole of the Year in "News" Media: Keith Obermann.

Well, they're not the winners yet, still just nominees.

I'm nominating Warren Buffet in the Business category.

I think we could also have a Music category. Lada Gaga comes to mind.

Any other categories I'm missing? Arts, generally? Education? Military?

So...that's a good system, then? We each nominate as many as we want, and name each category they're in. Then, after nominations close, we select the top 5 nomination-getters in each category, and then vote on these to see who is the winner in each category. We could also have a runner-up in each category.

I'd suggest, at the end, taking all the winners in each category and voting for the overall Winner of American Asshole of the Year--the Supreme Sphincter. I think that last could be a lot of fun. You could end up with Pelosi and Dowd facing off (I haven't done another recap today, but I think Pelosi has pulled ahead of Carter in the Politics category in nominations). And yes, I'm officially nominating Maureen Dowd for the "News" media category.

Ya know who I think is a real asshole?  Eric Holder, of the Injustice Department.  I had always gone breezily along, thinking we had equal protection under the law.  Not if you're not a Black Panther.  Also, the whole trying terrorists in NYC bullshit.  I couldn't believe it when that first started going down.

She probably is.  I also suspect that she does these kinds of jokes to raise her profile and impress the "cool" people in the industry.  You could probably fit her political knowledge in a thimble.
