Dems Lash Out at Pelosi in 'Raucous' Closed-Door Meeting
« on: November 16, 2010, 08:47:29 PM »
the dems are determined to ignore the message that the voters delivered in the midterms.  she led her caucus to slaughter, but a lot of the newly dead dems are moderates.  so, in a rather nasty bit of irony, the botox queen is in no danger of losing her authority to lead what is left of her emaciated caucus to yet another ass kicking in 2012.

bring the rain.

Quote
Democrats in chaos over Nancy Pelosi power

The Democratic old guard will try to hold the line Wednesday against a rank-and-file rebellion intent on winning some concession — no matter how small — from a leadership team seeking reelection despite having presided over the loss of at least 60 Democratic seats earlier this month.

The leadership election follows on the heels of a brutally long, contentious and divisive leadership meeting Tuesday, and it will determine not only whether Speaker Nancy Pelosi remains the head of the House Democratic contingent but just how much authority she will wield in the new Congress come January.

Pelosi is in no real danger of losing her job as leader of the Democratic Caucus, but she is being challenged by a diffuse set of critics, dozens of whom believe she should step aside after her party’s defeat, others who hope to strip her power to appoint loyalists to positions of influence within the caucus and still others who simply want more time to reflect on whether endorsing the same set of leaders is the best course of action for a defeated minority.

The Democratic fissures were laid bare Tuesday as various factions engaged in open warfare with one another, both in private discussions among lawmakers and in behind-the-scenes efforts to influence the outcome of the leadership elections and related votes on how to choose the party leader’s top lieutenants.

Pelosi and the old power brokers who led Democrats back into the majority four years ago are not conceding that they might be culpable in the party’s downfall.

this is going to be one of those jobs that she will work her ass off to finally acquire, only to spend the next two years in misery because she has it.  she shoulda just retired to the people's republic of san fransisco, and called it a career.  she has done enough damage for several lifetimes.

I think that even after January 3, 2011, after all's been determined, we're going to see small bloodbaths within the House Democrat leadership, erupting at some of the most unexpected times.

Also, I still think Schmuker of New York has the daggers out on Scary Reid; he just hasn't jabbed them yet.

indeed.  the only person more disappointed than we were that harry staggered to victory was probably schumer.  so now he will do in cadaver boy the old fashioned way, with a dagger to the back.

Hi,

By the time the Republicans get done with ethics inquiries and investigations she will wish to hell she just retired period.  She has no cover like they had with the super majority.  If the republicans are smart they will pick the low hanging fruit starting with Rangel and the others that surround her.

I will be surprised if she doesn't keep her power in the minority.

exactly.  and they did the things they did simply because they had the protection of a supermajority.  I guess they thought that the party would last forever;  forever turned out to be 2 years.  now they will have to deal with the hangover.
