D.U. jury. I've been on 6 over the last four days. I began counting about a week ago when

jury requests kept popping up. In my "not so humble" opinion I felt that most of the alerts were assholic in nature.

But the basis of the "alerts" has changed. People are alerting on posts that mention things that have been posted as factual on prior D.U. links. So somebody reads a post, thinks it is anti-Dem or is a R.W. talking point and hits "alert."

Instead of going to Wiki or Snopes and checking if the post might be based on fact, they hit "alert."

A post can be both true and a right wing talking point.

Democratic politicians do sometimes make mistakes.

Democratic politicians don't always act in our best interests: I refer you to Senator ...... and Senator....... who have received much criticism on this board, I was on a jury that judged the alert about a post that criticized one of those senators.

I know, I'm in a bad mood this morning. Kid ate all the Cheerios and didn't leave me any.

So, if I'm wrong, please explain before you hit alert.

I saw a poster there recently who made what should have been a point everyone can agree, and that is that events that happened 100 years ago, 200 years ago, 500 years ago, 1000 years ago cannot be accurately viewed through the lens of the values of 2022. They further made the point of asking if the members there wanted people years in the future to judge them according to their future values. Not controversial at all.

But it is on Skin’s island whacko world. So the post was removed.
