Can we suggest additional cities for DeSantis' and Abbott's tour companies? I'm sure Sacramento would extend a warm welcome, especially this time of the year.
Wait......I thought the border was "secure"? How are there any illegal immigrants to send if the border is "Secure"??????????????????
New York City’s shelter system is close to being overwhelmed by the continued influx of illegal immigrants from Texas, the city’s mayor said on Sept. 14.“In this new and unforeseen reality, where we expect thousands more to arrive every week going forward, the city’s system is nearing its breaking point,” Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, said in a statement.New York has recorded over 11,000 illegal immigrants entering its shelter system in the past several months, with others going into the homes of family members or friends. A number have come from Texas, which started bussing asylum seekers who were released by federal authorities to Democrat-run “sanctuary cities” earlier this year.U.S. authorities tell the illegal immigrants to go to court at a later date for the asylum claims to be adjudicated. Most claims are denied and many immigrants don’t show up at court. Authorities rarely deport illegal immigrants, especially under Biden.
I was under the impression that these people hid in the shadows and were doing the work that Americans wouldn't do. Why would there be a breaking point in NYC? Aren't there toilets to be scrubbed in Martha's vineyard?
Ted Kennedy is the only person with an actual confirmed kill in the war on women.
I wonder if the liberals know just how bad this is making them look. They talk about how bad it is to send them there, then ship them off to somewhere else. Damn. You’d have to be severely mentally retarded to not see how damaging this is to your brand. KC
Despite the backlash for flying a group of 50 migrants to Martha's Vineyard this week, the immigrants are reportedly grateful to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Telemundo's Cristina Londoño Rooney told MSNBC that while immigration activists claim the migrants have been 'used as pawns' and 'abused' by DeSantis, the group of Venesuelans were actually happy to be brought up north.'I can tell you, they're not angry at Ron DeSantis,' Rooney said on Thursday after speaking with some of the migrants. 'They are actually thanking him for having brought them to Martha's Vineyard.' 'Other people are saying they're being used as political pawns, but they don't resent it for now,' She added. 'They know they're the lucky ones.'Although the migrants received a cold welcome in Martha's Vineyard with the city declaring a state of emergency and calling in the Nation Guard to move them, the group eventually reached the Cape Cod military base, where they received shelter and a warm meal.
One of the 50 Venezuelans whisked from Martha's Vineyard to the Joint Base Cape Cod has been filmed expressing delight at eating his local food 'for the first time in three months'.The unidentified young man, dressed in a gray top and green jacket looked overjoyed, just hours after arriving at the key military establishment. He spoke after a local Venezuelan restaurant delivered traditional fare of arepas, black beans, rice and plantain to the migrants. In the video obtained by DailyMail.com, he said: 'We have had three months without Venezuelan food. This is like a blessing. Thank you.'
Lisa Belcastro, homelessness director of the island, yesterday claimed that the affluent area has a 'housing crisis'.Speaking after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent two planeloads of migrants to the pretty coastal town, Belcastro claimed that the island cannot support the addition of 50 more people.Belcastro, who herself lives in a lavish four bed and four bath $3.6million property in a secluded part of the island, is one of the liberal officials who declared it a 'humanitarian emergency' – reacting as they would to a hurricane. Her claims were backed by Gov. Charlie Baker, who said that Martha's Vineyard, with a population of 15,000, is 'not equipped to provide sustainable accommodation' to the migrants.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site
Star Member underpants (171,639 posts)I was actually sickened by Fox News this morning - the DeSantis stuntIn a oneupsmanship move to counter Texas Gov. Abbott, Florida Gov. Ahole flew “illegals” up to near Martha’s Vineyard (Liberal enclave). They ended up on buses and then I saw this. They think these peoples lives are just a part of some game to them.
August 26, 2022 4:31 PMPublished August 26, 2022 11:46 AM13El Paso city government buses migrants to New York City
The charter from El Paso to New York was arranged by the El Paso City-County Office of Emergency Management – one of several the city says it has chartered to transport migrants out of the region.City officials haven’t responded to questions about how many buses they’ve chartered, or where they’ve gone.“OEM has sponsored and provided transportation services for migrants out of El Paso, which is reimbursable through (the Federal Emergency Management Agency,” Deputy City Manager Mario D'Agostino said in the email response. “OEM has sponsored charter buses to include a recent transport to New York City, this was the preferred destination for those without any means to travel.”The federal government has said it will reimburse local governments and non-governmental organizations coping with the migrant influx.
From the illegals' POV - I'm guessing, obviously - NYC, WashDC, Chicago, etc. are farther from the border than a Texas border town, have far greater social resources, and are easier in which to hide and maybe find a job.
The Democrat mayor of El Paso defended his city’s policy of busing migrants 2,200 miles northeast to New York City, saying the beleaguered West Texas city is just trying to help them get to their ultimate destination.Speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Mayor Oscar Leeser said the migrants are being treated humanely, even though Republican leaders, including Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX), have been criticized by Democrats for exporting them to blue states and liberal cities. Leeser said as many as 2,000 illegal immigrants are flooding into his city daily.“The people are not coming to El Paso, they’re coming to America,” said Leeser, who served as mayor from 2013-2017 and was re-elected last year. “We don’t send anyone where they don’t want to go. We make sure we help them.“We put them on buses with food and make sure they get to their destination and make sure that we always continue to greet and treat people like human beings,” he added.
MARTHA’S VINEYARD, Mass.—While some locals have claimed that the illegal immigrants who arrived on this wealthy island should go elsewhere since there wouldn’t be work for them with the summer rush gone, the local newspaper has listed 50 help wanted ads in a recent issue, and the local supermarket chain has been known to need help all year long. The classified section of the Vineyard Gazette listed more than 50 jobs in the same issue that ran a story about the illegal aliens, referring to them as “stranded migrants.” The job ads included positions for laborers, custodians, landscapers, bakers, cooks, dishwashers, technicians, library assistant, and several retail positions. The local YMCA also listed several job openings, including housekeepers, ice arena workers, and a front desk administrator. The spacious Y, located near where the illegal immigrants spent the night at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, shares a complex with Martha’s Vineyard Community Services (MVCS), which also ran a help wanted ad in the paper, including a job for administrative assistant, “bilingual preferred.”MVCS didn’t respond to a request for comment by press time. The outreach center and the island’s homeless shelter told the media that they didn’t have room for the illegal aliens.
