Republicans to flee DC for inauguration
Jonathan Martin
[excerpt]
While millions descend on Washington for the historic inauguration of Barack Obama on January 20, some Republicans see it as an occasion to get out of town.
Out of power on both ends of Pennsylvania Ave and mostly out of favor on K Street, many emasculated elephants in the GOP herd will begin the Age of Obama with what amounts to an extended holiday vacation. Instead of fighting the quadrennial cold and what are expected to be record-setting crowds, they're heading out to greener pastures, with better temperatures, less hassle and more agreeable company.
“What better way to mark the Obama Inauguration (and his millions of adoring fans that will be in DC) than to get out of town to fabulous Las Vegas!†wrote Charlie Spies, a Republican lawyer and former CFO to Mitt Romney’s campaign in a blast email to GOP friends. “We hope you can join us for dinner and a fun evening on Monday, January 19th to celebrate the last few hours of our Republican president in the White House.â€
[snip]
Another Republican couple is taking a highly optimistic approach to the inauguration.
“Personally, the Snyders are embracing destiny and are looking forward to celebrating a truly historic weekend and coronation - not speaking of Obama, but rather Westbrook, McNabb and Dawkins,†said Pete Snyder, a GOP internet consulting executive and Keystone State native. “It's NFC Championship Weekend and we plan on being in Charlotte, the ATL or Phoenix to flap our wings and cheer on the Eagles, a true team of destiny as they continue their improbable run to the Super Bowl.â€

Hope you've bought plenty of ammo.

I will not be watching any news programs the week prior to and following the "coronation".
I've given up on just about every propaganda 'cast since Duh Fuhrer began his run for the ReichsChancellory. I listen to the local news on the radio, get most of my national news off of the innerwebs, and do my best to double or triple source anything that looks interesting.
The innauguration hype will make no significant impact in my household. I'm only looking forward to Glenn Beck's debut on FoxNews on January 19th.

I went through a brief combat training course back in Misawa. We had an instructor from Transportation going over some convoy stuff with us, and he was talking about a Chief he knew at another base. The guy had a new batch of Airmen coming in for his QRF. They came from Bolling AFB, and he was just as happy as could be. He was finally getting some Airmen who knew what it was like to be shot at on the way to work. :lmao:

I'll be placing the white house on ignore and bugging the livin shit out of my congress critters on everything the O wants to **** up.
-
I'd watch if there was a blizzard during the inauguration. :evillaugh:

More like a public fellation on CNN, MSNBC, etc.

I bet a rolling lunch stand that specialized in chitlins and collard greens would do a booming business there.
......and yes, I know, the PGA would be on my case..... :-)

I wish I could leave town that week. The hotels are booked as far away as West Va and Delaware. A lady who works with me said her mother is renting out her townhouse (in D.C.) for 10k that week. Unbelieveable.

Good Lord! People are paying this much and staying as far as Delaware and West Virginia. This inauguration is like a cornation of a king. May as well call Barack Obama King Barack.

LOL! And I bet the airmen were happy to be in a situation where they could finally shoot back as well.

Tiffany and Faberge are doing crown designs as we write. I am sure Obama would like something in brass with inlaid silver crescents and golden stars with green velvet trim.

I haven't checked the exact layout of the steps of the Capitol Building lately, so I'm kinda wonderin' if the Exalted One will be facing Mecca when he takes the oath.

H5, that along with a few assorted Legendary Portents of Doom during the festivities might actually make it TV-worthy to me, too!
:lmao:

Gotta make sure it has a flat bill on it so that it can be worn sideways or backwards fo' the street cred, yo.

I think traditionally they do face east. I think Reagan was the only one who used the west front for 84
