Westminster crash: Raids after suspected terror attack

The 29-year-old British suspect is not believed to be known to MI5 or counter-terrorism police.

A vehicle swerved into cyclists and pedestrians shortly after 07:30 BST before crashing into a barrier outside the Houses of Parliament.

Two people were treated in hospital for their injuries but later discharged.

A third person with minor injuries was assessed at the scene.

No-one else was in the car when it crashed and no weapons were found in it.

Searches are taking place at two addresses in Birmingham and a residential property in Nottingham.

The suspect, who has not been formally identified, is being held at a south London police station but police said he was not co-operating with officers.

Security minister Ben Wallace said he was British but originally from another country.

According to another article I've seen, Parliament is in recess, so the people in the area would not have been MPs or their staff, but people who work in the area and tourists (several government palaces and Westminster Abbey are within easy walking distance of where this happened).

The 29-year-old British citizen, originally from Sudan, has also been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Met Police said on Wednesday.

He came to the UK as a refugee and was granted asylum, the BBC understands.

His brother described him as a "normal person" with no fanatical ideas, and no links to any religious group.

Abdullah Khater also said his family - who are originally from Darfuf in Sudan - was in "a state of shock" over the incident.

"Darfuf" seems to be an alternate spelling of Darfur, the region in Sudan where a rebellion was brutally suppressed. FWIW, it was Arab Muslim government vs. a black Muslim people group with a long history of wanting to be independent.

This guy fled Sudan in 2002, came to the UK in 2010, and became a citizen two years later. He studied Electrical Engineering in Sudan, but was studying Accounting in the UK. Sounds like he was unable to get a career going. I'm dubious about His brother's claims he had no "fanatical" or religious ties. The brother could be lying, or simply unaware. Jihadi Muslims have demonstrated an affinity for ramming pedestrians with vehicles in Central London, a pattern fit by yesterday's incident.

The kicker is the perp isn't cooperating with the cops.

Sorry, but any Muslim piloting a car that crashes into multiple people - pedestrians and cyclists - is a terrorist unless he was drunk or on drugs.

Burden of proof needs to be on the Muzzie.

But yeah, the Brits have allowed the Muzzie invasion to the point that they're helpless. They won't do anything about the real problem.

Electing a Muzzie mayor is yet further evidence that the Brits are out of control.
