City report on Confederate monuments raises idea of renaming Austin
https://www.mystatesman.com/news/local/city-report-confederate-monuments-raises-idea-renaming-austin/W0ZX8x43xXWQbogdF6tE4M/

Quote
Known as both the “father of Texas” and the namesake of the state’s capital, Stephen F. Austin carved out the early outlines of Texas among his many accomplishments.

He also opposed an attempt by Mexico to ban slavery in the province of Tejas and said if slaves were freed, they would turn into “vagabonds, a nuisance and a menace.”

For that reason, the city of Austin’s Equity Office suggested renaming the city in a report about existing Confederate monuments that was published this week.

Good grief! Change the name of Austin to something else. That is really insane!  :mental:

Liberals going full Stalin now.

That sh*t won't go over well in Texas once the regular folks in the state catch wind of it.

I expect they'll want to rename it "Santa Ana" to honor the Mexican heritage.  Don't disappoint me, Liberal scum, go full retard!

Back in the early 2000's before I came back on active duty...there was a push by the Libs in the Texas Education Association...our state teachers union...to portray Santa Ana in a more sympathetic light in the upcoming revision (at the time) to the 7th grade Texas History books.

It failed miserably...I wouldn't put it past them t some point to try again to make the 180 Texicans at the Alamo look like white oppressive invaders.

smdh.

While nothing the libtards do surprises me any more, changing the name of an entire city -- capitol city of Texas at that -- is beyond the pale.

The only thing that is sacred to libtards is the length to which they go to appear even more moronic than they already are.

What's the deal with this? Didn't Austin kill enough Mexicans?

the fact that the city commissioned a report on Confederate monuments tells you they have an agenda and it's not a good one...

Quite the opposite.  Santa Ana did not kill enough white Texans.  The garrison at the Alamo was too small a wipeout to liberals.

Last time they tried this crap was about a year ago in the middle of the monument takedown frenzy and they went after the big statue of Sam Houston.
