AT&T was quick to respond to news of U.S. tax reform, announcing it would give some employees bonuses once the law is official.
The telecom giant said in a press release on Wednesday that it would give more than 200,000 U.S. union members a special bonus of $1,000. The company also increased its capital expenditures budget by $1 billion in the U.S.
"Congress, working closely with the President, took a monumental step to bring taxes paid by U.S. businesses in line with the rest of the industrialized world," CEO Randall Stephenson said in a statement. "This tax reform will drive economic growth and create good-paying jobs. In fact, we will increase our U.S. investment and pay a special bonus to our U.S. employees."

Boeing said the $300 million includes:
- $100 million for corporate giving, with funds used to support demand for employee gift-match programs and for investments in Boeing’s focus areas for charitable giving: in education, in community development, and for veterans and military personnel.
- $100 million for workforce development in the form of training, education and other capabilities development to meet the scale needed for rapidly evolving technologies and expanding markets.
- $100 million for “workplace of the future” facilities and infrastructure enhancements for Boeing employees.
“On behalf of all our stakeholders, we applaud and thank Congress and the administration for their leadership in seizing this opportunity to unleash economic energy in the United States,”Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg said in a statement Wednesday.
“It’s the single most important thing we can do to drive innovation, support quality jobs and accelerate capital investment in our country.”

Fifth Third Bancorp unveils bonuses, minimum wage hike after tax bill passage
Fifth Third Bancorp in Cincinnati, Ohio, will pay more than 13,500 employees a bonus and raise the minimum wage for its workforce to $15 after the passage of the GOP tax plan that will cut the bank's corporate tax rate.
It is the second company to announce a bonus for employees because of the tax plan. AT&T said earlier on Wednesday it would pay 200,000 U.S. employees $1,000 each and increase its capital spending budget by $1 billion.
Fifth Third said the tax cut allowed it to reevaluate its employee pay and pass along some of the windfall. Nearly 3,000 workers will see hourly wages rise to $15. The $1,000 one-time bonus is expected to be paid by the end of this year, the bank said, assuming President Trump signs it by Christmas.

AT & T Employee $1k Bonus has nothing to do with tax reform.
This is in the Union Contract if AT&T meets it's goals.
It's the only thing I've seen over there on it. But what does our OP say? Let's look ...

Congress did not have to legislate a minimum wage job. All you had to to was cut the taxes, and businesses pay more. :cheersmate:
Wells Fargo said Wednesday that it would boost minimum wages for employees to $15 an hour, following Fifth Third’s similar announcement.

Do you remember the Dems, Pelosi and MSM storyline that reducing the corporate tax on corporations will only result in raising dividend payouts and share buybacks and be of no benefit to the economy?

The mandated bonus was for a measly 20,000 employees.
So because of the tax cut, another 180,000 workers will see that bonus.
My guess is the union mandated one was for union stewards and other union officers, not Joe Worker doing his job.
