He was in my office lamenting that the credit crunch was not over. I said of course not because there is now a whole new level of Americans who were able to afford their mortgages and feed their families. But that as the fuel prices have risen it will be putting some of these people into danger of defaulting on their mortgages because they have to choose to drive to work, feed the family or pay the mortgage.
He couldn't equate the two.

And the cycle will continue until we have all been taken down.

what is the point of this idea? we see it all the time on DU, but we never get to the punchline. what is the bottom line for * tanking the country?

what does he get out of it? doesnt that hurt his money abilities in the future if he's a crappy president? Jimmy Carter didnt fare so well after his administration - he didnt make the money that ex presidents typically do.

honestly, why would any president purposely want to hurt the country? all of them have weird ideas, but i dont think any of them is bent on our destruction.

I guess they figure that the Chimperor is as stupid as they are. Of course, we do have to remember that Bush is the one who sank Atlantis. If he'll do that to Atlantis he's capable of anything. :-)

I've ask before "where's the benefit?, where's the payoff?".  I never get an answer.  Isn't wealth worthless if there is nothing to buy?  If the world economy crumbles into nothing, what fun will be found in being rich?  Why would anyone want to render their own wealth worthless by running up inflation?  There is never an answer.

Don't like high gas and energy prices, thank a democrat.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Maybe I'm out of touch, but are there really that many people sitting out there watching gas prices tick up, saying, "Okay, that's it, one more cent-per-gallon and we're not eating this week" or, "Honey, gas just went from 3.39 to 3.45. Call the bank tomorrow and see if they can give us a little more time on our mortgage"? I mean, if you're living on such a ragged edge financially that an extra 2-3 dollars a week is going to kill you, isn't it time for some serious re-examination of your finances overall? I know a lot, and I do mean a lot, of lower income families in the rural North Florida area where I live, and though they may occasionally complain about gas prices, I haven't heard any of them expressing fear over how it's going to make or break them.

Now, I fully understand that folks like truckers or those in businesses that rely heavily on transportation or travel are getting hit hard and my heart goes out to them, but the DUmmies would have people believe there's this huge class of people out there that are one gallon of gas away from starvation. I don't see it.

it really doesnt make any sense. why dont they step back and think about this.

and Bush does have family and kids and grandkids down the road. why on earth would he want to lay waste to his kids world? i think Hilary and Obama are uber socialist/marxists in their hearts, but they believe that is the best way to run the world. its how they were brought up. they are just too idealistic to realize it wont ever work.

but i dont believe any of them has malicious tendencies to see the country fail.

George Soros does, but not these politicians.

Lauri, they are people who read '1984' in high school and took to heart the part about people being evil for the sake of pure power rather than personal gain, but never got the point that the book was about Socialists.

Here's a few examples of what I'd do if I was planning the downfall of the U.S..

1-Tax hell outta the rich.
2-Raise property taxes until folks couldn't afford to own anything.
3-Place natural resources off limits using enviromental laws etc..
4-Welfare for everyone.
5-Institute free healthcare for everyone.
6-pass bills in congress that would raise energy prices thru the roof.
7-Pass environmental statues that couldn't be reasonably met.
8-Scream glow-ball warning every chance I got.
9-Let in illegal immagrants to raise crime and lower wages.

Some of my plan has already gone into effect.......and seems to be working quite well.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
