School/MOS guarantee? Did you give them college transcripts so you could come in as an E-3?
ETA: And of course, when do you ship? Where for basic?
-
Congratulations, A7.
Hit the ground running. :cheersmate:
-
You're in the Army now,
You're not behind a plow,
You'll never get rich'
By diggin' a ditch,
You're in the Army now !
Congratulations. Stick with it, and take advantage of it. There will be a big payoff !
-
You better be standing at the position of Parade Rest when you type to me!
(get used to it)

I did and I leave for Fort Knox in July and then on to Fort Meade for my AIT

How is your fiance taking it?

I can't hear you! Why are you talking with your hands!

Aw, I had a premonition this would happen.
Somebody wants the "women's angle" on this.
:-)
-
How is your fiance taking it?
She is trying to learn everything she can about the Army
-
Outstanding, and thank you in advance for your service! :cheersmate:

Are they really that bad?

YES!

Permanent party isn't that bad. Just don't walk up to your 1SG, PSG, or CSM and start jabbing on like you're talking to one of your buddies. Better be at parade rest, or at least at ease. As for your squad leader or section sergeant, it really depends on the type of unit you're going to and the atmosphere. I was medical then signal. Aside from busting our asses half the time, and hurrying up and waiting the other half, it was pretty lax as long as you knew how to be a soldier, did your job, and weren't considered a shitbird. If you're going infantry, you might as well be prepared to stand at ease for anyone with more than one stripe.
-
Congrats BTW. You'll learn. Oh, and some here will disagree, but don't volunteer for shit in basic (you'll get picked enough and trying to brownnose the drill doesn't impress them, it pisses them off). Be "outta site, outta mind" as much as you can be.
-

Play the game and you will be a better soldier for it when the time for playing games comes to a screeching halt.
I'm an NCO and perpetual smart-ass but I also make it a point of personal pride to render proper military courtesies.
And what Reb said 'bout volunteering: for the most part he's right but if the Drill sergeant calls for a demonstrator you better bounce to the front.

Yeah, that's a balancing act. They tend to get pissed when NO one gets up.
I ETS'd as an NCO and, unless I was getting into someone's ass, it was pretty casual. Oh, and ALWAYS salute officers, even in doubt. Saluting an E-7 on accident isn't normally going to get your ass smoked.
-
What MOS did you pick?
Congrats and thanks for your willingness to serve.
-
I agree with Rebel on volunteering while in basic.
When I was in boot the DI asked for a show of hands of guys that could drive a 5 speed stick shift. I kept my hand down even though I had a CDL at the time and knew how to drive a semi.
After several troops put up their hands, the DI said "Good then pushing a mower should be easy for you".

LOL.... When I was in AIT I was coming out of the commissary with my wife. I forgot that I was in civilian attire and saluted a couple of female butter bars. They thought it was funny.

My nephew is in the Army. Congratulations! :)

Wow, that's a tough one to get into, with a lot of civilian opportunities afterward.

That's what I hope for something to do outside the military and to use my degree in

The only reason we haven't done it to Eupher yet is that he's so old and we don't want to be liable for breaking his hip... :fuelfire:

The objective isn't getting the lunch money, the objective is that satisfying clatter of brass instruments hitting the ground. Lunch money is a bonus.

I do find this rather amusing coming from the guy who said goodbye to the army for the sea going life.
But congrats A7X.
