Seen this on facebook:  Obama, Pelosie and Reid blamed high gas prices on W in 2007 & 2008. Now is different though and they claim the President is powerless when it comes to oil and gas prices...

I don't know what is going on but gas stations here are cutting you off at $50 bucks.  Can't even fill up in one transaction  :???:

They did that last time gas prices went sky high.  Some places were cutting people off at $65.

The limit is probably set through psychological data of folks who routinely blow their gasket when having to pony up insane amounts of money to fill their gas tanks.

It's a defensive measure.  :argh:

I used to have an old Chevy pickup with dual tanks.  I only filled up both of them once.  After looking at the price, I never did that a second time.

I wish they had done that after Katrina. We had these fools in pick up trucks filling up 3&4 55 gal drums. That just drives the price up due to supply and demand.

zeit--those big rigs routinely hold 300 gallons.  And I've seen diesel going for $4.20 already.

I feel for the little guy that uses off road fuel for grading/farming...around $3.39 here.

I used to use 1,000+ gallons a day....GOD I'm glad I'm retired.

I turned on my ecochallenge feature on my gps unit today.  Usually I speed but it keeps me in line since it show little red, yellow, and green leaves.  Saves me gas to slow down.....oh and inflate my tires  :p

I don't know if they still do or not, but credit cards, particularly AmEx used to have a limit of $50 that could be charged at the pump. It was to protect the cardholder - probably even moreso AmEx - against stolen cards. I can remember when AmEx used to automatically charge your account $35 or $50 when getting gas, until the actual charge came in. I only know this, because they charged mine and I couldn't figure out why they charged that amount when I was never putting that much gas in at one time. I called them and they gave me the above answer. That was when I stopped charging gas on my AmEx.  :censored:

With Amex, I was under the impression that all charges incrued during the individual cycle had to be paid off by the end of said cycle... In that case Amex is protecting their own ass from people charging $200.00 for one gas tank load..

I noticed doing the speed limit (*gasp!*) is a great way to save gas.  On some of my longer commutes, I would drive normally one week and drive the speed limit the next.  All other things being constant, doing the posted speed limit is the most fuel-efficient.

Same here.  I put the instant fuel feature on my screen and I average about 22-26 MPG on my way to work on that device.  I'm hoping by the end of the week my average MPG will be 18-20 MPG now instead of the 15-16 MPG I've been getting with my old driving behaviors.
