For the last week or ten days the price here has been boucing from $2.99/9 to $3.12/9....y'all know which days I've been getting gas don't you? :-)

Probably just like me. You buy gas and the next day the price drops.  :banghead:

Global warming is fix'n to drop a ton of snow and ice on me...gas was $2.98/9 when I bought it a few minutes ago.

Back in 1958 while daddy owned a country store we once sold regular gas for 11.9 cent a gallon for a couple of days. The usual gas wars back then dropped the price of gas from 24.9 to around 18.9 give or take a penny. I know because I had to change the pumps, the road sign and pump the gas.

I remember those days when gas was two bits a gallon. Also bagged groceries at the A & P for 35 cents an hour as a teenager.

Two bits, four bits, 6 bits, a dollar...

Not all that complicated - IF a person has heard that little saying.

Gas steady or slowly declining, but diesel (and as a result, heating oil) is friggin ridiculous.

Unleaded is going for $3.299 this morning, but diesel is in the $3.90 range, with heating oil (basically diesel sans tax) is $3.50-3.60/gallon.  If it's that high this early in the season, we're ****ed come March/April.

And I'm going to need at least two fillups.

Remembering some of the pics you have posted in the past, you have a good sized house. Do you have central heating or forced hot air?
I imagine when you lived by yourself, you just closed the door to the rooms you weren't using..

Now that you have a family with you, more rooms will be used and therefore heated...

Oil burner/hot water.  Two zones, upstairs and down.  So even "closing off the other rooms" does pretty much nothing since the whole floor is maintained at the same temperature.

Owing to the VERY warm weather we've had over the past six weeks, we haven't used that much oil, only about 1/4 tank since October.  However, I'm not going to BS myself into thinking this is holding out forever.  God will smack me down with a great big, "**** you" and some -20 mornings in the not-so-distant future.  That's when we'll REALLY find out how much we'll be going through.

As it is right now, however, I won't need a fill until after New Year's, if the weather doesn't turn to total crap.

Yep.  I was just getting used to sub-$3 gas.  Now it's $3.15 out at the airport.

Two weeks ago it was 3.09.  Yesterday it was 3.27.  I had .50 off a gallon, so I got some mid-grade for 2.94.
