But like I said, it's clear most DUers don't give two ****s what happens to Syrians. The anti-war crowd is less about compassion and saving lives than just about not giving two ****s what happens to an entire country.

Historians have not found such evidence. If anything what it supports is the accidental just war. The actions of the US before the war, the most obvious the turning back of the SS San Louis, is the most glaring example.
 
The we saved the Jews is a post war myth, and myths are hard to destroy

It's not unlike the I can't tell a lie Washington, but proceed on the myth making. I gave you links to actual mainstream publications. The debate on how accidental or when policy changed, I would say 1944, has been raging since 1945
