Grrrrrrrrrr: Scalia Rewrites History - Claims 5-4 Bush v Gore Decision - ‘Wasn’t Even Close'
At the end of the speech, Scalia took questions from the audience. One person asked about the Bush-Gore case, where the Supreme Court had to determine the winner of the election.

“Get over it,” Scalia said of the controversy surrounding it, to laughter from the audience.“

Scalia reminded the audience it was Gore who took the election to court, true and the election was going to be decided in a court anyway—either the Florida Supreme Court or the U.S. Supreme Court.

It was a long time ago, people forget…It was a 7-2 decision. It wasn’t even close,” he said.

Bush v. Gore was not a 7-2 decision — and indeed, Scalia could tell this is true by counting all four of the dissenting opinions in that case. Although it is true that the four dissenters divided on how the Florida recount should proceed — two believed there should be a statewide recount of all Florida voters while two others believed a narrower recount would be acceptable (therefore, 7-2 was technically correct)— not one of the Court’s four moderates agreed with Scalia that the winner of the 2000 presidential election should effectively be chosen by five most conservative members of the Supreme Court of the United States.

I hope there is a strong negative reaction from the University for this.
by the way he's delusional to think this is ancient history and that people have forgotten it. If there's anything that Scalia will be remembered for, it will be being on the wrong side of Bush v. Gore.
There wasn't. Get over it.

5. The name " Bush v Gore " tells us Bush filed the case. How stupid does he think we are? nt

10. You got it.

I remember that. What grounds did the appeal use? I can't remember. The legislature was going to go in the favor of Bush and over rule the Florida Supremes and appoint the electors for Bush. After SCOTUS ruled then Gore conceded.
Issue was whether Gore could just count only his strong areas and omit Bush's or should there be a full recount.
Gore's boys rejected full, and only wanted "selected" areas recounted.
In other words, they wanted to "steal" the election.
Got that DUmmie? Get over it.
You a**holes wanted to steal it, and the SC rejected you.

Well, you are indeed an ignorant fool.  In appellate practice, the party taking the appeal from the lower court ruling has their name first as Appellant in the forum of the appeal, regardless of who started the litigation at the trial court level.

Vincardog, you should probably just shut up before you embarass yourself any further.

Is kpete, who's rich and lives in a gated community, is she upset that Obama lied by saying he created 4 million jobs? how his Administration is lying about the unemployment figure and it's actually over 11% not 8.3%?

They are all about the past if they can use it in their favor, which is hardly ever.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.
