Editorial: Cap-and-trade plan will sink Michigan
« on: March 05, 2009, 10:21:30 AM »
Quote
President Barack Obama's proposed cap-and-trade system on greenhouse gas emissions is a giant economic dagger aimed at the nation's heartland -- particularly Michigan. It is a multibillion-dollar tax hike on everything that Michigan does, including making things, driving cars and burning coal.
*snip*
The carbon tax will be paid by energy companies, manufacturers and public utilities, who will pass the cost on to their consumers. Michigan will be especially targeted. It gets 60 percent of its electric power from coal plants, and the state's economy is still reliant on heavy manufacturing such as car and truck assembly and auto parts production
*snip*
A similar program in Europe hasn't worked. European automakers complained about carbon dioxide limits the European Union proposed in 2007 as damaging to the economy.
The Obama cap-and-trade program will place even more of the economy under the control of the federal government. The only upside is that the negative impact it will have on economic growth and job creation will take care of the carbon emissions problem, for sure.

0Bama has too much on his plate, right now, hell one thing is too much for him.  This idiot doesn't care that environmental policy almost always affects economic policy.  What's good for the environment is almost always bad for business and workers. Even his green energy plans will be a failure due to environuts.

'BAT' MEN IN BLOW TO WIND POWER
This is just batty!

President Obama's energy-independence plan to develop pollution-free wind power to replace dirty coal and oil is running into opposition from an unlikely source: bats.

Wind-energy programs in New York - including a developer's plan to build the city's first wind farm at Staten Island's mothballed Fresh Kills landfill - are tied up in red tape because their projects will endanger bats, birds and other wildlife, The Post has learned.

Hell, how is Michigna even still afloat NOW?  With Democrat tools running the state and ghetto rejects running Detroit, the fact is hasn't already sunk under the Great Lakes from the weight of its stupidity is a frickin' miracle.

MI had a half a leg to stand on when Rep Dingell was chairman of the energy committee; however, he got voted out with the help of Pisslosi and replaced with Waxman. The democraps are eating their own cause Dingell was opposed to tighter mileage standards and emission controls on autos.
