The Fairness Doctrine is NOT what we need now. We need WAY more than that...

The only thing that will help is simply to break up the media. Limit the number of outlets in every market that one company can control to just one. Then limit the number of outlets that can be owned nationally by some absolute number

Having to jump through hoops to get a simple message out is killing us.

========================

Anybody here still oppose bringing back the Fairness Doctrine?
 Advertisements [?](I mean, after we restore transparent vote counting, and remove all 'TRADE SECRET' programming code, corporate control and profiteering in our election system.)

FAIRNESS DOCTRINE

1. Bust corporate 'news' monopolies! (--including busting up monopolies that include both print and broadcast media).

2. Require equal time for opposing views on issues of public importance, of commercial broadcasters using our public airwaves.

3. Restore public service as a requirement for the license to use our public airwaves.

4. Remove corporate funding and influence from our public broadcasting networks. Fund them properly.

5. Reverse the privatization of cable, and apply the Fairness Doctrine to cable news.

--------

Requiring fairness and public service in the sectors of the media that are subject to public licensing and control improves competition on matters of investigative reporting, reliable and objective news, and the independence of journalists (from commercial motives), in all other news media. Print media then has to compete with real journalism on TV/radio.

Since Reagan killed the Fairness Doctrine, multinational corporations have taken over not only all traditional news/opinion media in this country, but also the U.S. military (for corporate resource wars), and, well, everything else--

 ::)

Targeting Religious Broadcasters...
 All I can say is, "GOOD", because when the religious right talks about broadcasting, they are talking about the disemnation of fear and hate.

The DUmp version of the First Amendment - the Folsom Street Fair, Piss Christ, and child porn are protected speech.  Conservative speech, Christian prayers, and the name of Christ (unless used as a swear word) must be forbidden, stamped out, taxed, persecuted...whatever it takes.  With love, from the party of diversity and tolerance.

Hold on a sec. I thought they said conservatism and the Republican party were dead, that we're only like 10-20% of the country and everyone else is worshipping at the altar of the Obamessiah? I thought they also said Rush was irrelevant and had in fact help bring down the Republicans, and that America is a liberal country now?

So why are they still worried about Oxyrushlimpviagradominicanrepublicballs Limbaugh? :clueless:

Why is conservative talk radio so popular?

This DUmmy is advocating a fairness doctrine for all media. I think I would rather see that than what the non DUmmy Dems want to do, which is just have it apply to radio. Can you imagine MSNBC having to put Rush up next to Keith Olbermann?

Again, DUchebags would have been the equivalent of an Eagle Scout in the Hitler Youth.

Of that I have ZERO doubt.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Be careful what you wish for DUmmies as that thing which you cannot grasp called the law of unintended consequences can bite you in the ass.

You all think this will silence those views which you do not like but remember there is a thing called the NY Times,CNN and others that will also be sued into oblivion for not presenting a "balanced" view.

Conservatives are happy to let all viewpoints be heard without trying to force any somewhere but just push too far and you will find out that we are the ones with resolve and organization.
You pathetic leeches just sit around and whine.

Liberalism Is The Philosophy Of The Stupid

The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years.  The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.
