It is one thing to kick out a child that you have raised and know you did your best to raise them up right.
A grandchild is another Critter, if your child did wrong in their upraising then one wants to rectorfie the problem with love and money.
Grandma now becomes the victim of 2 generations ago and feeds on their love and expectations.
Rose Kennedy at 90 had her grandchild steal her pain medication and lord knows what else. She Loved her grandchildren but to them she was just an abstract idea, a woman they saw once a year, their own parents were not involved in their life.
Grandparents that do get overly involved in the grandchildren life face the same thing. They rush in to help the child of their children with no thought that there are 2 generations separating them.
