As it's not a straight laceration, it definitely would require more sutures than would otherwise be necessary for a lac of that size.  Also, the crooked nature of the lac leads me to believe that it was a compression lac (caused by a compressive force splitting the tissue open over the hard bone), which could easily be caused by an elbow.  0bama is lucky that the edges approximated well with each other, which will reduce scarring; they usually don't look that neat from a compression lac.
