5 years ago today...Katrina

The alphabet news media is in high gear this morning reminding us that it was 5 years ago that Kitrina hit New Orleans...Bush's fault...blah-blah-blah.

Is that all they got to help Obama? Has any other area of the country hit by a bad hurricane ever been in the news so much 5 years later?  , It's still "Oh whoa is us'es".

Well, if the media is saying 5 years ago today, the media done got it wrong.  I don't even have to research to know that it was 8/29/2005.  I won't forget that day ever.  Lost our family home on the MGC that day, along with all of our friends.  Stupid media.

I am sorry. That was a rough time. It was rough where I live, and I am a good ways from the coast. I can't even imagine. The MS coast is really looking good these days though. Did y'all rebuild?

Not yet, and doubtful.  It was right off 90 and everyone except for one decided not to rebuild.  The ordinances and insurance companies couldn't make up their minds... so most just moved on.

Mississppi, Slidell, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines Parish were really whacked by Katrina, yet they managed to rebuild without all the bickering that plagues New Orleans.

I don't blame you. I can't even begin to imagine the hassle with the insurance companies. I was on the coast 2 years ago, and there were still Katrina cottages everywhere, but over all, it was looking pretty damned good considering. I was working in Pascagoula, but I travelled through Biloxi, Gulfport, Pass Christian, and Bay St. Louis (and all those little places in between).

We were right behind Grass Lawn, in Gulfport..  I loved that place.  Sad to see it destroyed.....but it always was a possibility, and life goes on.  Everything I know and grew up with has been destroyed, it isn't the same, and I don't see any reason to rebuild.  Our family has moved on, but the MGC will always be in my heart.

The Obumbler is giving a speech in New Orleans right now.  At the beginning of his speech, he had to get a jab in at President Bush.  I'm wondering if he will give as long of a speech as this on 9-11.

Wait I read a article just today that the percentage of people happier with Bush's handling of Katrina that Obies Oil leak response.. what a maroon Obie is.

I think that it's ridiculous. The news didn't do a whole lot about the devastation that Hurricane Andrew (1992) caused on the fifth anniversary of it that I can recall. I did see a little blip about it last week on the Weather Channel. I guess what pisses me off about Katrina "victims" is they way they are whining, but only around New Orleans. Everybody else sucked it up, rebuilt and/or moved on. Don't even get me started on the retards that decided to stay put after being warned well in advance of Katrina's "wrath".

I DO recall one story about a Viet Nam Vet that couldn't find a ride out of New Orleans and walked out of there, all on his own, and got to safety. I must mention the fact that he is black. Too many people sat around waiting for the Government to help them. Then there was the blatant violation of the 2nd Amendment that happened afterwards where many people  had their guns confiscated even though they were only trying to protect what little they had left.

I think President Bush's approval of handling Katrina was something like double what the Obumbler has gotten for the BP spill.

I get so mad when Katrina even comes up.. Victims=thugs, Not all of them the ones who stayed to loot. The photo of the guy in the water carring the Heineken beer that is on websites comes to mind. Victims=Obie Voters.

I choose to remember Katrina because it started as a small hurricane and exploded into a monster. 2005 is the most active season on record. Also, a large area outside of New Orleans was devastated like Mississippi and St. Bernard Parish. I know some parts of New Orleans are recovering like the French Quarters, Lakeview, and even some parts of the Lower 9th Ward. At least they are recovering. People should of evacuated from New Orleans period. If those levees had been maintained well, New Orleans probably would of been flooded to a lesser extent.

Mississippi has the largest percentage of Blacks of any state in America.

I have friends and family that evacuated, from NOLA to Mobile.  Some lost their houses, and had to move elsewhere to start over.  Some stayed and rebuilt.  The fact of the matter is that Katrina was one Bee-yotch of a storm, it put Camille to shame.  Yes, I had a moment today, remembering the fear of what did and could have happened.  I probably always will.  The things that were experienced, I hope never to repeat, but I will always remember.  I hate the taint of the corruptness of NOLA, that put all survivors in that same boat, or just neglected them entirely.  That episode, more than any other that I can recall has fueled my opinion on the corruptness of government, and the strength of a liberal media.  And let's just say my opinion is not a good one.
