Haiti's Orphanages Targeted

On Wednesday night, Maison de Lumiere, an orphanage caring for 50 orphans, came under attack from a group of 20 armed men, aid workers told the Joint Council on International Children's Services.

A neighboring orphanage sheltering about 135 children has been robbed several times over the past few days, they said.

"If people think you have food, then they will come after it," Beck said. The orphanage is rationing what food and water it does have, he said.

To protect the children, some orphanages are on lock-down, according to volunteers working with the relief agencies.

"When bringing in supplies to an orphanage, you can only bring in a day or two day's worth," said DiFilipo. "If you bring more than that, the locals come in."

I'd really like to know what the hell is going on there. Why isn't relief getting to the people? Obama better get his shit together, tell everyone who's boss and start kicking some ass. But we know better, don't we.

It seems like a classic example of too many Chiefs, not enough Indians.  Every organization wants to be in charge.  The more I watch, the more I wonder how it is possible to have so many helping and so little help actually being given.

I read a short article the other day that hit the nail on the head.....my search skills and lack of a correct direct quote have kept me from finding it again....but here goes anyway....maybe someone else can google it up....if gooogle doesn't sensor it.

Haitian Consul said, speaking about the roiting populace, said something like this, "Any where you have Africans you have trouble."

Is there more than one "Haitian Consul"?

I think the problem is that Øbama HAS told folks who's in charge, and made it clear that it isn't him.  :banghead:

A friend who is in the Coast Guard has told us stories about rescuing these haitians in the ocean on their rafts.  When they bring them aboard, they offer them rice and beans...the parents will steal food out of their babies bowls and mouths.   He said it's a hard thing to watch.
