President Barack Obama received 12 stitches Friday after being inadvertently hit with an opposing player's elbow in the lip while playing basketball with friends and family, according to White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.
The stitches were administered by the White House Medical Unit.
The medical procedure was done in the doctor's office located on the ground floor of the White House.

I dunno - 12 stitches doesn't sound like a paper cut to me.
You know, guys, this kind of thing - badmouthing Obama because he got an elbow in the chops - is a cheap shot. There are plenty of other things to bash him about, but this one isn't one of them.

They used what they called "micro stitches" or something. Their very small stitches that are used to prevent scarring, that would explain why 12 were needed.

Now, I'll say in my next breath that when he smokes, nobody seems to know ANYTHING about that - which means the WH press corps covers that kind of shit up. THAT stuff IS newsworthy - not if he got busted in the chops while playing basketball.
And oh, btw - the president needs his exercise too. Every prez since probably FDR scheduled it right along with LBJ's conferences in the presidential bathroom.

I don't really care if the guy was busted in the lip. It isn't newsworthy material, considering there is so many more things the media should be covering on the Obama administration.

After 8 years of Bush bashing, and outright character assassinations of Bush AND Palin, I have no freaking sympathy for the guy.
I certainly don't respect him. He hires 37 czars to govern for him (a job he is supposed to do!). A trio of bitty hens (his wife, mother in law, and a female adviser) make presidential decisions. And obama takes Chopper one to a military base to play basketball. He's golfed more that the previous THREE presidents combined. He spent the entire summer on various vacations. He wasted 10 days on the most expensive foreign trip in US history.
Obama does NOT want to be president. He certainly doesn't work at his job.
As for the whine about a cheap shot: too freaking bad. Obama isn't man enough to get my respect. He's a girly man. a woosie. a metro sexual. a pansy. But he's not a man.
and the bitch slap? Well, we aim to please.

As it's not a straight laceration, it definitely would require more sutures than would otherwise be necessary for a lac of that size. Also, the crooked nature of the lac leads me to believe that it was a compression lac (caused by a compressive force splitting the tissue open over the hard bone), which could easily be caused by an elbow. 0bama is lucky that the edges approximated well with each other, which will reduce scarring; they usually don't look that neat from a compression lac.
