Lol
I know a few CPAs... and everyone of them said it's better to get zero refund or owe a small amount than to get some huge refund. CPAs despise interest free loaning of money. I wouldn't let this idiot do a return for my 19 y/o daughter who works 20 hours week at 10 bucks an hour.
I'm a CPA with a small tax practice
My husband and I are solid middle class with two college age dependents. Nothing changed from last year to this year. Last year our refund was 4000 this year we owe 3000. That’s a 7000 swing not in our favor we are both sick about this. I’ve prepared a few returns (W2s and 1099s are just now being received) and refunds are significantly less or people owe for the first time in years. It’s gonna be tough tax season.

^^^looks like a jumping frog, but actually signifies a bouncy.
I have no doubt the primitives are going to pull many such tales out of their asses, so best to not believe a single one of them.

Truth...
What sort of CPA knows so little about the tax law that they couldn't manage their quarterly estimated tax payments so as not to be surprised by a 3k bill.... ?
-
A $7K swing signifies major tax events, not a change in tax law. Our annual pay/refund bounces around (not $7K worth of bounce, though), mostly due to events in the previous year. Alleged CPA is being dishonest.
-
Yep, according to the primitives someone who had $4,000 held out during the year and got a $2,000 refund is worse off this year because they had $1,000 held out and owe $500.

Her bonafides as a "CPA" is that she buys the current version of Turbotax every year...

It is interesting that this story is coming out now...
Local DEM agitprop T.V. channel (ABC affiliate) here in Ohio carried a story about how “30 million Americans” according to the IRS will need to pay the IRS because of President Trump’s tax cut. They carried screenshots of “angry taxpayers” saying they “will never vote for that liar Trump” etc. because they did not really get a tax cut!
The IRS explanation had something to do with people needing to update the “withholding box” for the W-2 statement etc. But…the tax cut for “many Americans” was not what they were expecting, or did not happen at all!
One explanation: people in high tax states (NY, CA, Illinois, etc.) can no longer deduct as much because of a cap on state-tax deductions. Therefore, they might in fact pay higher federal taxes.
Has anyone else seen this story on ABC or elsewhere?

>It’s gonna be tough tax season.
Mostly for those in NJ, CA, NY and other stares that can no longer depend on us in states that funded their
SALT scam of making us pay for their socialist leftist free lunch crap. ESAD and inject some salt of KCl to
satiate your big heart of spending the money of others.
-
1. This never happened.
2. If it were true, good. You want to pay more for government, you are demofascist.
3. If you owe $3K you are going to have a penalty for not paying enough in your quarterlies.
-
I thought Dems were all for paying more taxes. It confuses and frightens me to hear them complain. You people want bigger government so ante up.
-
If this is true, the only taxpayers affected are people in high-tax blue states like Commiefornia, New Joisey, and N-Yark, who find that they can't deduct state taxes from their federal disbursement. I would consider that a win, actually.
