How McCain drove a lifetime Republican into voting for Obama by choosing Palin
 http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7178137

I live in SC, which some of you know. So I get to talk to hard core Republicans every day. All day. At the grocery store and at the gas station. We have been having a hard time finding gas lately, so this morning when my husband called me at 7:00 am to tell me that he had seen gas at the Gate station on his way to work, I hopped into my car and headed up there. They were already packed by time I got there, so I turned the car off and got out and was standing around waiting for my turn and drinking my coffee, only semi-conscious when the older lady who was across from me waiting to get gas at the pump on the other side of the island said, "I am going to vote for Obama, too." She had seen the Obama sticker on my car, I guess. I am pretty chatty, so I struck up a conversation with her. The upshot was that she is disgusted with BushCo after having been a life long Republican who voted Bush twice. She was interested in McCain and had planned to vote for him...until he chose Sarah Palin as a running mate. I said something about her inexperience, but no that wasn't what did it for her. She thinks Sarah Palin is a bad mother. She said that if Palin had been putting as much time into raising her kids as she put into running for mayor and governor and now VP, she wouldn't have one girl pregnant and a son who sounded like a "piece of work". Anyway, our lines starting moving before I could ask her about Palin's son, but I found the whole conversation interesting. I keep hearing people saying that the family stuff isn't/shouldn't be an issue, but for this one older southern woman, it obviously is. I also thought it was telling that she resented what she saw as Palin's 'ambition' being stronger than her maternal instinct.

Anyway, just had that conversation about a half an hour ago and thought I would share. That is one more voter 'in the tank' for Obama!!

The rainy primitive could do a lot about creativity, by paragraphizing, I think.

Otherwise it just runs on and on and on and on, dribbles on without a break.

This must be the way primitives think, too.

Why is it, at the DUmp, when a Democrat says they are going to vote for McCain/Palin "They were NEVER a true Democrat ..." but when they come up with some BS story like this it is a true conversion?

Wadda pant load.

Right.  Because every life-long Republican HATES the idea of conservative women who revile abortion running for office.   :mental:  :lame:

How stupid do these people think we are?

Notice how every time some imaginary Republican decides to vote for the Obamessiah, that talking point invariably comes up.  Everyone who's actually seen that happen in real life, raise your hands.

We have been having a hard time finding gas lately,

Have they been looking for gas at places other than gas stations? I work in a three to four county area and have yet to NOT be able to find some gas. As a matter of fact, I've yet to find a gas station that didn't have gas.

Supposedly, there's been shortages in the Charlotte NC area, according to a headline on Drudge.

Yes there is a gas shortage around here. Several stations in my area are out of everything and don't know when there'll get anymore(I'm 35-40 miles south of Charlotte).

The news media is partly to blame for the mess. They started reporting the coming shortage and everyone rushed out to fillup every car, can, truck, lawnmower, gas can, etc. and the storage tanks ran dry. We're served by 2 gas pipelines, the colonial and plantation I believe they're called. They were shut down for a week or so for harricane Ike and pumping has been spotty due to refineries being closed etc..

It'll all blow over in another week or two. .......I hope. ....and BTW, it makes people want to vote for the one promising to drill.... :rotf: .....are you listening Mr. McCain.

Lifetime Republican is going to vote for the most communis....liberal in the senate................ riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I gather by the way this poo flinger described the woman as a lady, she was meaning elderly........or someone as old as Thor.

No way.....no damn how was this a life long republican in SC and now deciding to vote Obama..........................hell no.

One day the demonrats are gonna realize that there are probably more conservatives registered as Demonrats in the South than there are actual really and truly registered Demonrats.................I really hope they never realize this

Every conservative I've heard or read has had nothing but praise for how Gov. Palin handled the issue of Bristol's pregnancy.

You know, I keep hearing on the news all these big dems who are voting for McCain (most were Hillary supporters) and yet the DUmmies run in to all these people who now believe in the Messiah.
