coins- quarters- state thingies.

Just one of these things when one comes home from work and empty the change out of their pocket. Millions of us have these bottles and cans of loose change hanging out in the back of closets and  under the bed.

What the heck, penny's, nickels , dimes and quarters, some times a half dollar. Who knows what is in the jar or bottle.

At times the parents or grand parents dropped a few coins into jars that are soon forgotten and just put away.

Buy a snack from a vending machine  at work that costs a buck, put in a $5.00 bill and the change is in coins, now you have a bunch of change in your pocket. Cannot lug this stuff about so one dumps it into a jar when they get home.

Old time Casinos that that put out coins when one hit on a slot machine, coins came a tumbling out into a tray.    Most of us took our cups of coins to the teller windows, turned them in and received paper money for them.

Today times have changed, I be a watching as the coin collectors are looking for silver and have found to my surprise that those state quarters, with no silver in some cases are worth $3-9.00 each, why ? darn if I know supply and demand I would guess.

I have read the coin books and went a digging, anywhere we in 20 twenty years have dumped coins.   Lots of places a vase or a jug we had forgotten.   Everything scrambled up, no order to the coins just lots of penny and silver mixed in.

One needs the gloves to handle the coins, they are nasty, we bought a box of gloves for $5.00 at the drug store,  Got the kids all gloved up and dumped a large jar of coins on the floor and had the kids go at it separating the coins.

Amazing the amount of money the coins on face value added up to. Now we have to check out if a penny is worth a dime, a dime is worth a quarter -----Interesting hobby, we still have a few more bottles of coins that were found in family's back rooms when they passed on.

When you get finished with that, I have a five gallon water bottle that's full.  Not just with coins either.

I always check my change for pre-64 silver.  Last time I found something was a Mercury dime about five years ago.

I'm less worried about "pure" copper pennies.  If I want to invest in copper, I can go to the hardware and get it by the foot.
