Reid Angers GOP by Pushing Four Versions of DREAM Act Without Hearings

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has pushed four different versions of the controversial immigration bill known as the DREAM Act without a hearing on any of them, drawing outrage from the top Republican on the committee that would have handled the package.

A statement to FoxNews.com put out by the Republican side of the Senate Judiciary Committee said all four versions have the same "fundamental" problems, but that Democrats' approach causes unnecessary confusion.

"Democrat leaders, in their rush to pass an unpopular bill during the lame-duck session, have completely bypassed the Judiciary Committee. They have introduced four separate versions of the same bill and, without any committee review, placed each and every one of them on the legislative calendar," the statement said. "This unusual approach creates a chaotic situation, one that makes it more difficult for the public and their representatives -- as well as the press -- to review this deeply controversial measure."

A representative from Reid's office could not be reached for comment.

Appalling, innit?  We're going to need that filibuster power, at least after the new Senate is seated we'll have enough margin on it that one, two, or three weak sisters/brothers can't sell us down the river in the name of bipartisanship.

Would you prefer a liberal who is actually competent and effective?

You should really be thankful we don't have any of our old school politicos around.  I can only imagine what the democrats would be doing with an LBJ caliber majority leader, a Tip O'Neil caliber speaker, and a Roosvelt or Kennedy level in the oval office.

Frankly, other than the damage Reid, Pelosi, and Obama are doing you should be thankful their incompetence is out in the open for all to see.

If nothing else, they're poster children for "How to **** Up a Country". Absolutely true. Now that that's out of the way, how do you explain the fact that Bela and Dingy Harry were reelected? If Harry and Bela are so incompetent, why did their constituents send them back to Congress?

That's a rhetorical question, actually.

The answer is, the political process continues to reward those in power while those who are more competent, have a better work ethic, and who aren't afraid of addressing the issues, continue to swim upstream against the current.

The gerrymandering process will be fun to watch. It'll be great to turn things around on the Dems the way they've finagled their own advantages. Remains to be seen, however, whether or not the Repubs will jump on that with the same fervor that the Dems did.

I have no doubt that the district lines where it can be drawn up for a democratic advantage will be drawn that way politically and the lines where they can be drawn up for a GOP advantage will be drawn that way politically based on which party is in power in that given state.

As far to why is Nancy Pelosi still a congresswoman, she represents San Francisco.  Why she is re-elected as part of the House Leadership boggles my mind.  There is a long tradition that when your party loses the House and you are speaker, you resign and go home.  Nancy sticking around is the height of her crazy ego and shows she has no honor.

As far as Reid is concerned.  Sharon Angle was the wrong person to run against him.  If you would have ran anyone with the tiniest bit of media savvy, Harry would be collecting checks from a lobbying firm or working at the White House in January.

Oh, I think there were plenty of elements at work helping good ol' Dingy H that went far beyond Angle's media issues - though in principle, I agree that Angle failed to manipulate the media the same way that the political process manipulated Harry in prevailing over Angle.

You ran someone who was smarter politically they would have wiped the floor with Harry.  I don't really like the political game, but it is what it is and Sharon Angle is a lousy candidate.  She does not have the ability to portray herself as reasoned.

If by "smarter politically" you mean that Angle didn't manipulate the unions like Dingy did, I'll agree with you on that. If by "smarter politically" you mean that Angle didn't do enough to push for Repubs to get out and vote more than she did (though Repub voters was more than normal, though not enough to overcome the obvious Dem advantage), I'll agree with you on that, too. What surprised me is Dingy actually beat her in Washoe County, her own turf - though Reno is another Dem stronghold.

Dingy's own stupid-ass statements should have been enough to bury him, but Nevadan voters have short memories.

I don't agree with you that Angle was a "lousy" candidate. She was inexperienced and not astute enough to follow up with stupid Harry's shit like how Angle had "wild" ideas. For a state like Nevada, which used to be one of the really "wild" states to begin with (Vegas and Reno ringing a bell, Jake?), the idea that "wild" is bad is one of the real disappointments in that particular race.

No, fact is, Dingy pulled the race out of his ass with a lot of help from people in Nevada pissed off at the ENTIRE political process, voting "None of the Above" or not voting at all, Repubs especially.

Dingy did more to create that environment than Angle could even hope for - her own failings involved not being astute enough and quick enough on her feet to beat Harry at his own game.

A loss is a loss.

If you had someone more astute at the chess board, Harry is in retirement.  I stand by my statement, Sharon Angle was a lousy candidate.

I really hate our political process, however she didn't understand the game being played and got a lesson.  One of the older players in the GOP would have wiped the floor with Harry, because they know Harry's game.

We're arguing semantics, Jake. Looking at it from your point of view, okay, Angle was a lousy candidate. Her crime was being lousier than Harry, whose "lousiness" is exceeded only by the overall stupidity of the typical Nevadan voter who put Harry back in office.

Angle was new to the game, and yes, she got a lesson. She froze when she shouldn't have. She failed to seek the advantage.

Those in power generally stay in power.

At least we're agreed on the distasteful political process, which was my point all along.

No argument there, the political process in America is something Orwell and Huxley couldn't fathom in their worst nightmares.

I would go a little beyond that Eupher...look at California and NY as well.
Both states bankrupt with no economic hope in sight and the population still votes blindly for dems on the assumption that they will keep the government benefits flowing.

The same with euro socialism, they are broke and the leeches are riotying thinking money is going to appear out of nothing.

Hard to explain but once dependent it is a fight for their lives so the idiocy of their actions is the result.

Could be a blessing in disguise; financially saving both NY and CA moved from 'Tough as nails' to 'Near impossible" with those Dem victories, and watching them circling the drain for two years under Dem control could do a Hell of a lot more for the GOP in 2012 nationally than all the media histrionics about the 'mean' Republicans trying to wreck their Socialist and/or simply corrupt entitlement systems ('Women, minorities, children most affected, film at 11').

I have a feeling this DREAM act bill just paves the way for the lord zero to give amnesty to the millions of illegals in America.Scary Reid is a jack ass for not listening to the people and is ruining the Country with that bill. I shouldn't even be on the table. :argh:
