Dreading our future
« on: December 20, 2009, 02:10:00 PM »
Quote
I am a baby boomer, which is to say my life has coincided with turbulent and awesome times. From the Cold War to Vietnam, from Watergate to Monicagate, through the horrors of 9/11 and the stunning lifestyle advances, my generation's era has been historic and exciting.
Yet for all the drama and change, the years only occasionally instilled in me the sensation I feel almost constantly now. I am afraid for my country.
I am afraid -- actually, certain -- we are losing the heart and soul that made America unique in human history. Yes, we have enemies, but the greatest danger comes from within.

GETTY IMAGES

Watching the freak show in Copenhagen last week, I was alternately furious and filled with dread. The world has gone absolutely bonkers and lunatics are in charge.
Mugabe and Chavez are treated with respect and the United Nations is serious about wanting to regulate our industry and transfer our wealth to kleptocrats and genocidal maniacs.
Even more frightening, our own leaders joined the circus. Marching to the beat of international drummers, they uncoupled themselves from the will of the people they were elected to serve.
President Obama, for whom I voted because I believed he was the best choice available, is a profound disappointment. I now regard his campaign as a sly bait-and-switch operation, promising one thing and delivering another. Shame on me.
Equally surprising, he has become an insufferable bore. The grace notes and charm have vanished, with peevishness and petty spite his default emotions. His rhetorical gifts now serve his loathsome habit of fear-mongering.

Excellent article.

@#$% it! Virtually anyone who paid the least attention to info about Obama that wasn't controlled by Obama knew he would be what he has proved to be! Would that this character had been paying attention to more than Obamian smoke and mirrors! The buyer's remorse of Obama voters coming out of their wishful thinking trance is infinitesimally small compensation for the destruction being wreaked on this country!

Realistically, I find small comfort in the approach of the 2010 Congressional elections. They're almost a year away, with the swearing in more than a year away. A H@#$ of a lot of destruction can be accomplished 'twixt now and then! And does anyone seriously believe Obama will hesitate to rule tyrannically, bypassing Congress and daring them to try to stop him?! WASS!!!
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

A couple of acquaintances I've met who expressed remorse over their 0 vote has been due to his not magically making everything perfect within the first few weeks of his presidency. They seem to really have believed that he was a magical black man, their own personal savior.  How one could be so deluded and still function is beyond me. I asked what did they think would happen, and they couldn't put into words other than they thought he would "fix stuff." These couple of people I talked to were your run-of-the-mill rural country democrats, who vote democrat, "Because my family has always voted democrat. They're for the little people."

I haven't yet met anyone who is upset over their vote because he is not what they wanted. So far, it looks like he's not enough of what they wanted.

SVPete,

I agree with you 100%.  You sir, just wrote all that I feel; I do not know where our Country is heading and I am painfully aware that we cannot sustain the path we are on.  Watching the "change" unfold has been a freakin' nightmare!   A revolution is coming...

I am proud to say - I did not vote for this man!

While it is good to "see" someone come to their senses it still baffles me that anyone could have been fooled or deluded by the charlatan.

To me, that was a second issue: A.) He's an empty suit, of the four D & R Pres. & VP candidates, easily the least qualified/accomplished; B.) He vastly over-promised (and his followers thought he was under-promising!). FWIW, I'm not suffering from buyer's remorse.

Carl,

As we watched the "anointed" one campaign, it became crystal clear to me that he could not possibly fulfill all that he had promised.  And now most everyone else sees this too.  What really gets me (still), is when he said he'd go through the "budget" with a scalpel. :bs:  I'M STILL WAITING - think I'll have a long wait?

He will stand in front of a camera and read the lines that say he will reduce spending while his administration officials will propose millions more.

We beat the hell out of the Democrats in the 2010 Congressional races, or we heed Thos. Jefferson's admonition about watering the tree of liberty.

If we succeed at the former, then we have to start getting serious about developing a robust conservative academia that will go into the schools, colleges and universities to challenge the heretofor unchallenged hegemony of the left in educating our children.  William F. Buckley, Jr., described the disease, and prescribed the cure, almost 60 years ago in God and Man at Yale; regrettably, conservatives never really picked up on the long-term consequences of the liberalism disease that was just then beginning to infect American academia, and thus essentially left teaching to the liberals and the left.  Is it any wonder then, that an unrepentant terrorist bomber like Bill Ayers was able to worm his way into American academia and end up with a plum tenured professorship?  It should be an outrage, and it should never have happened; yet it did because we conservatives ignored the alarum sounded by Buckley and let liberalism/the left slowly take over the education of our own offspring.  That should never be allowed to happen again.

Get rid of ALL the current members of congress and get a conservative majority elected.
Unfortunately, I don't think people are going to wise up until the tax increases start hitting them in drastic ways.

I'm tempted to ask if you work with Special Education students, but unfortunately I know far too many nominally-functional people with advanced professional degrees who were just as wilfully blind to the obvious as your acquaintances.

I agree with all-- he has not idea as to what he is doing. It is like a Hollywood movie. He is not only an empty suit-- he has no emotion, his eyes show no life. Scary to say the least!
