Ex-aide: DeWeese knew about bonus payments
11:21 AM EDT, October 8, 2008

HARRISBURG - The former chief of staff to Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Bill DeWeese testified this morning that DeWeese knew about the payment of millions of dollars of taxpayer-funded bonuses to Democratic staffers who worked on political campaigns.

Michael Manzo took the stand this morning in the second day of testimony in the preliminary hearing for defendants in the so-called "Bonusgate" scandal. Manzo explained in detail how House Democrats developed a bonus program that rewarded staffers.

"We knew we were going to be badly outspent by Republicans because we were in the minority," Manzo said in testimony before Dauphin County President Judge Richard Lewis. Manzo admitted knowing about the payments and said he believed DeWeese knew about them as well.

"Our goal was to have more feet on the ground. It was the only way we could compete."

What an unfortunate name for a weasel involved in crap like this.

Way to go, Bill De Weasel! You deserve every drop of crap you get.
