Obama draws 35,000 in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For one night, all those ugly numbers for Democrats – the polls, the unemployment rate — melted away, replaced by 35,000, the tally of Barack Obama fans who flocked to Ohio State University on Sunday night.

The president, hoarse, happy and accompanied by first lady Michelle Obama, seemed to draw energy from what organizers believe was the largest crowd he has drawn since the mammoth 2009 inauguration.

“I’m losing my voice but I’m still fired up! I’ve got some campaigning to do over the next couple of weeks,” shouted Obama to cries of “I love you!”

Others – even those who plan to vote straight Democratic on Nov. 2 – were less enthusiastic. Retired schoolteacher Jane Boyer, 61, said she likes, but doesn’t love Obama, and only came when she heard that musician John Legend would be performing.

“I supported Hillary, so I’m still a little resentful, and I think she would be doing a better job,” Boyer said. “I’ll vote for him again, but I’m disappointed. What happened with Guantanamo, Iraq, Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell? We didn’t get what we were promised.”

The only way Zero would capture the attention of most NASCAR fans is if he hit the wall in a shiny automobile.  The way he's captured middle America's attention for hitting the economic wall and sliding down with a resounding thunk.  He landed on the Dems who were supposed to be hitching a ride on his coattails.
