Looking for Some Obama Money (Someone else needs to take responsibility!)

TAMPA - The din of room 168 at the Economy Inn on East Busch Boulevard occasionally drowned out conversation.

Twelve children ranging from teenagers to toddlers to infants spent the past week here, scrambling across the floor, bouncing on beds. With eyes filled with resignation on Wednesday morning, they were hungry and dirty and they wore the same clothes as the day before and the day before that.

Angel Adams, the mom, was asking for help, as the children rambled about the room. She was homeless and hopeless, she said. A relative paid for the motel room for a week, and after that, who knows. Her fiancé is in prison. Her 1-year-old is named John The Baptist Brown.

With measured indignation, Adams said somebody owes her.

By the end of the day, help had arrived.

Nick Cox, regional director of the Florida Department of Children and Families, paid Adams a visit and, standing outside the motel room with all 12 children present, offered a solution. He said there was room at A Kid's Place in Brandon, a cottage large enough to house a family of 12. Wary of the offer, Adams agreed.

The lifelong Tampa resident said she wants justice from the Hillsborough County sheriff's child protection team that took her kids away from her two years ago and from Hillsborough Kids Inc., which got her kids back six months ago.

"What do I do?" she said earlier in the day. "I have no answers. My family has been railroaded. Someone needs to pay.

"Nobody's helping me."

She remained distrustful of the system, she said. It was a system that despite all good intentions landed her in the motel, in this fix, in the first place.

Others would disagree, saying Adams is the cause of her own problems.

This morning, inside the dingy motel room, Adams handed out a list of her children's names and ages. Across the top: "Three fathers. One Mother. Fifteen Children."

Ten of the children, she said, were fathered by Garry Brown, currently serving a five-year prison term for dealing cocaine. A sampling of his kids' names: Garry Nesha, Garry Brown Jr., Garry Lethia, Garryiell and Garry Rick.

Cuban sandwiches and packaged noodles were donated during the motel stay. In the room, a microwave sat on top of a mini refrigerator. No stove. One sink, one toilet, one shower. Everyone walked barefoot over a grimy stained green carpet.

The smell of dirty diapers filled the room. Jerome, 11, gave Andrew, 6 months, a bottle. "This is not comfortable," Jerome said.

The baby coughed and spit up on Jerome's hand. He didn't flinch and patted the baby on the back

We've seen the DUmmies excoriate the Duggar family for having such a large family and raising them on their own, but they would probably side with this irresponsible  :censored: .

Of COURSE they would side with her.   ::)  Nothing in the article about being a "fundie," and she isn't white...   There's no way she could have known that her baby-daddy(s) would end up in jail...not her fault, it's the fault of those reich-wing whackos that think drugs are evil or something!  ::)

However, those kids do deserve better than Mom is managing.  Someone needs to pay her to get her tubes tied, and get something done for those kids...get them OUT of the system and give them a hand up to a better future.

Why did they give the kids back in the first place if she is unwilling to support them. Do they attend school? I bet they don't. So sad that those kids have no choice. The mom is straight trash.

I will take that chance Bondai.

What is it going to be here-------A woman's right to choice or hang her high for her choice.?

We have abortion on demand, the mothers that choose that are evil and wicked.

Those that decide to give life a chance but do so with too many kids are evil and wicked.

WTF-----The issue here is, Abortion is murder---Woman have the right to do with their body what they wish.

So what is it going to be, if a woman has the right to do so with her body decides to have 20 baby's, if she has no way to support them, is she worse then a woman who has 20 abortions because she cannot support even one of them.?

When do we go the way of the Chinese and grant our citizens the right to have just two children if the first born is female.??

The law states a woman has the right to limit her children without being dragged in in and forced to be sterilized.     I have heard nothing about sterilizing the fathers of these children, nothing about their responsibility in creating life.

Give me a break here, either woman have the right to choose or they don't.

You are assuming only two choices, having abortions or having babies.  What about the other choice of just being responsible.  Either don't have sex or use birth control.
I did not see anyone suggesting that this woman should have had any abortions.  She is the one that is utterly responsible for the miserable life she leads and the dismal future that her children face.

The woman could have chosen not to have sex, or to use birth control Vesta.

She has choices, true, but that comes with taking responsibility for those choices. She has not done that.

If someone can afford 15 kids and their needs are provided for by means other then welfare or drug dealing, then by all means. But this woman is sitting on her ass in a filthy motel whining and blaming "the system". Her 11 year old is feeding a baby. This child should be out playing Little League or doing homework. I see this all the time here.

With the "right" to have as many kids as she wants comes the responsibility to care for them.

What  "right" does she have, to demand (at the point of the governments gun) anyone else assume the responsibility of dealing with the consequences of her legal and consenting actions.

excerpt
TAMPA - The saga of a homeless mother and her 12 children continued today, as child welfare workers say they hope to have the family moved into a six-bedroom Sulphur Springs home by the end of the week.

On Tuesday, Hillsborough Kids Inc. officials said the home under consideration had been scrubbed from the list because of concerns about safety. A window was broken and there was a gap in a backyard chain-link fence that led directly to railroad tracks.

Today, the house is back in contention, said Elaine Olszewski, spokeswoman for Hillsborough Kids.
"It's a day-by-day thing," she said. "We are working with the landlord."

She said the previous renters at the house had left the building fairly dirty and a general clean-up was needed in addition to the fence and window repairs. She said carpeting and a fresh coat of paint also are among the tasks to be done before Angel Adams, 37, and her 12 children can move in.

Olszewski said the goal is to get the family moved in by Friday.

Adams' plight emerged last week when she and her children were forced to stay in a rundown hotel room after she had been evicted from her apartment. She doesn't work, and the father of many of her children was in prison.

She said that the county and state were not doing enough to help her and her children. Her statements caused a stir of criticism, mostly from people who said she was the cause of her own problems.

HFS. Take the kids away and jail her ass for being unfit. She alone is going to cost the state close to half a million by the time the last kid leaves the welfare rolls as a child and enters it on their own

A homeless mother of 12, whose comments about family welfare agencies not doing enough to help her polarized the community, was held in contempt of court at a hearing today and her children were put into foster care.

Angel Adams, 37, refused to answer the judge's question of whether she is pregnant or not.

"No comment," was all Adams, who has a total of 15 children, would say.

Hillsborough Circuit Judge Tracy Sheehan, who became visibly more agitated at each turn, ordered Adams jailed for contempt of court. Adams glanced at her sister seated nearby and was emotionless when she was handcuffed and led from the courtroom by two female bailiffs. The judge also granted a motion by the Florida Department of Children & Families to place the children in foster care.

Adams and her family had been living in A Kid's Place, a shelter for children in foster care near Brandon. The dozen children, ages 6 months to 16 years, will remain together at the facility, the judge ruled.

Adams was supposed to move into a rent-free, six-bedroom, two-story house in Sulphur Springs by Friday.

Adams further complicated matters Wednesday when she refused to answer questions from child welfare workers about which of her relatives would be available to help her raise her children. Relatives on the list are required to undergo background checks, and Adams refused to give names.

Adams' plight came to light last week when she and her children were forced to stay in a rundown hotel room after she had been evicted from her apartment. She doesn't work, and the father of many of her children was in prison.

She said Hillsborough County and the state were not doing enough to help her and her children. Her statements sparked angered many people who thought she was ungrateful for the government assistance she was getting and that she was the cause of her problems.

I used that picture as a screen saver as I needed to be reminded just how precious all children should be.    Look, really look at the faces of these children.  Some of the kids look sad, yet others look happy and joyous.

All these kids, amazing and with promiss that  by mathematics at least one of them will grow up to become very smart.  We will need that child in the future to better our own lives.

I would like to see the kids kept together, they are a Tribe of their own, they are family.  Keep their Mother with them, they need at least one parent.

Mother of 15 jailed for contempt

TAMPA - A homeless mother with 12 dependent children hasn't won any supporters lately by loudly complaining that the various welfare agencies trying to help her weren't doing enough.

Angel Adams gained a new detractor on Thursday: a circuit judge who jailed the griping mom after she refused to reveal if she was pregnant with her 16th child.

Adams, 37, was held in contempt of court at a status hearing. She was handcuffed and escorted from the courtroom. The judge ordered her children placed in foster care for the second time in two years. ...
