Oh my.

And to think, the wired gassy primitive just got up there to the farmette in Wisconsin a little less than two weeks ago.

this simple salad just came together in a perfect way

Three ears of sweet corn, cut and scraped from the cob
A can of rinsed and drained black beans
A can of black olives, drained
A half-cup of minced green onions
A cup of chopped fresh cilantro
A cup of small heirloom varietal tomatoes (yellow, orange, red)
Half a lime, squeezed
Two tablespoons of juice from a jar of jalapenos
A pinch of kosher salt

Toss all together. It was a perfect combination of flavors.

Topped with sliced avocados.

Served aside some spanish-scented rice, some ground beef seasoned with cumin and topped with grated pepperjack, and some blue corn chips.

It was really delicious. Nothing unusual, just good.

The Rita Hayworth primitive, whose first garden was a Liberty Garden:

2. That's a gorgeous collection of fruits and vegetables - and I applaud the judicious use of the jalapeno juice.

But, I must ask, didn't you miss olive oil? Wasn't it too tart?

Or do you like tart? My sister only puts vinegar on her salads, and she likes tart..................................

3. oil would have masked the sweet milk of the fresh corn

It wasn't particularly tart -- just very fresh tasting.

Several primitives ooh-and-aah over the recipe, suggesting touches of their own.

And finally, Grandma:

11. A perfect summer salad!

I love this combo and similar ones. I haven't made one like this in a while. I need to do that.

Thanx for the reminder.

Grandma kindly adds one of those smiley things, waving "hello" to franksolich.

Doesn't seem to me that real much of that meal was "locally produced".

Wonder how that hobby farming thing is working out for them  :-)

It's probably not much of a farm. Remember, this DUmmy moved into what sounded like a suburban friend's garage, having nowhere else to go.
The "farmette" is apparently a piece of land with dimensions larger than the foundation of the dwelling.

I'm having a hard time beliving these idiots could keep Farmville alive on Facebook, much less do the real thing.

.
Because third world peasant labor is a good thing.
