Title: I'm Saved -- What now?

Quote
Well, if you read this far you are ready for a new direction in your life. 1. You can " rock out" in your new Salvation or 2. you might want to please the Father.

If your Dad just handed you $1 million , would you say thanks and then break his heart by taking drugs or killing his grand baby with a brutal  abortion procedure? Would you tell your Dad and Mom "thanks " and then go commit crimes ? I( think not). If you had a brain you might honor your Mom and Dad with a life style and acts that pleased them.

But wait.! After you are saved, why are you still sinning like Paul in Romans 7? Why are you still despicable? Why are you still thinking in the gutter?  Because you are living in the human self. Not the "old self". You will never change . But you want to change but you don't know what to do.

Now God has GIVEN you eternal life. All he asks is that you believe in his Son. Is that it? Your parents can not separate themselves as your parents and neither can God. Your parents will come to the penitentiary to visit you for the consequences of your decadence and law breaking but if you have to look in their tear filled eyes and sit on the other side of that glass , you might want to change things just because you loved them.

You are saved. You are a child of God even if you break His heart but I have a suggestion. Why don't you change your life in gratitude to the Father-- Not for salvation but because of it? Why don't you find a community of fellow believers and start doing something good for them? It's OK to support a building or a preacher, not because you have to but because you want to.

    * 1 Love
    * 2 Joy
    * 3 Peace
    * 4 Patience
    * 5 Kindness
    * 6 Goodness
    * 7 Faithfulness
    * 8 Gentleness
    * 9 Self-control

When these are not attempted you are not doing well. You are Saved to eternal life but you are not thanking God for it by at least trying these spiritual attributes.Give them a try.

As their father,I had to chose between two environments for my sons.One was Christian and competitive sports and the other was video games and marijuana.God has chosen a path for you but you don't have to take it anymore than my 17 year old sons had to.But they were better off and so will you be.

It's OK to love a sinner and pray for his or her salvation. It is OK to give of yourself to please the Father. But you don't have to. You may want to. The thief on the Cross with Jesus never had time.

I pray every day. My prayer starts out" Father I pray in Christ's name that you hear my Prayer. I confess my sins and ask forgiveness of my sins in Jesus name and thank you that he already was sacrificed for my sins, what ever they are.. Amen" Or I might ask for something and when it happens a month later, take total personal credit and forget I asked God for help. If I reeled off the answered prayers in my life ,it would bore you to tears .
Yes ,you are free and going to Heaven. Act like you appreciate it.

Wow.  You're much further along than I.  As a matter of interest I've studied the ideas and events of history for years, including Christian theology and history.  I'm new to the spiritual commitment.  I really got pissed with some of the members on this board and probably should have left as soon as it started, but I'm reluctant to give up the Christian Forum here.  I've never seen one on any other forum, though I suppose there are others.  I can use all the spiritual shine I can get  from experienced believers.   Intellectual knowledge is one thing.  The spiritual part of this new life is hard.

You must show, by continuance, your commitment of fellowship and trust in God

Faith without works is dead.
If we are asked to make an account of our lives, it will go a lot better if you can show God how your faith in him was impetus for improving your life, and bringing new works into your new life of faith in him.
