Hearing loss?
« on: June 07, 2011, 10:12:28 AM »
I managed to hurt my neck over the weekend wrestling with one of my cars.  I pulled or injured some muscles at the base of my neck and now I am having trouble hearing on one side.  It sounds like I have water in my ear but I don't think that's the case.

Anyone ever hear of this?  If not, feel free to point and laugh.  I don't mind.

Yep, the tensor tympani muscle might be part of localized inflammation.

It may be a simple case of wax buildup that was jarred when you strained yourself. The water sound is a symptom of wax buildup. Try syringing your ears while you're in the shower.

I had that happen last time I went for a swim in the ocean... got some beach crud stuck in my ear for a week.

I'll give it a shot.

The swelling has mostly abated and my hearing is back to normal.

That was disconcerting.  Not to mention my neck hurt like a bastard all day long.
