President Obama’s approval ratings have jumped substantially, crossing the magic halfway threshold to 54 percent, up from 48 percent in late September, while the portion of respondents who disapprove of the president dropped to 40 percent, the lowest disapproval rating in a NEWSWEEK Poll since February 2010.

Obama on the campaign trail = GOTV WIN! and it is paying off for Dems

The poll finds that 48 percent of registered voters would be more likely to vote for Democrats, compared with 42 percent who lean Republican (those numbers are similar to those in the last NEWSWEEK Poll, which found Democrats favored 48 percent to 43 percent).

So which is it? Because polls can not be tightening and shifting in favor of Democrats AND still have us heading to a big win for the GOP in a week. One of these narratives is doomed to fail, and I am betting it is the one based on beltway spin, not facts.

 However, I'm still doing GOTV on Sunday, October 31. I'm scheduled for the 4-7pm time slot to go canvassing door-to-door for the Kansas Democratic Party.

When I signed up, I forgot it's Halloween!

Maybe I should dress up as a Tea Bagger and SOTV? ("Scare Out The Vote")...

Reminds me of primary day...I walk in after work to the polling place, and the sweet little old ladies running the joint were amazed at how many Republicans had turned out so far that day.

I voted in early voting on Friday, around 9:00 am or so.  The place wasn't crowded, but all 15 booths were full.  We had some people from both side of the camp hanging out in the parking lot trying to sway voters.  As I left, a man was arriving.  The Dem Candidates people hollered to him, as well as the Repubs.  He waved off the Dems, and hollered back as loud as he could, I have had enough!  I know who I am voting for, and pointed at the Repubs.
