Title: Is Third Time the Charm for ‘Female Viagra’?

There is no drug specifically approved to help women who aren’t interested in sex, but one may be getting close.

On Thursday the Food and Drug Administration will for the third time hold an advisory meeting to review advice on whether the benefits of taking the drug flibanserin outweigh its risks. The FDA previously rejected the drug for its lackluster results and its side effects, which included low blood pressure, sleepiness, nausea and dizziness.

University of Miami pediatrician Judith L. Schaechter, M.D. gives an HPV vaccination to a 13-year-old girl in her office at the Miller School of Medicine on Sept. 21, 2011, in Miami, Florida.

The panelists will discuss the drug in a public meeting and then recommend whether the FDA should approve it. Though the FDA makes an independent final decision – which will come in August – it often goes with the recommendation of the panel.

Supporters of the drug, who have formed a movement called Even the Score, say that the fact that no drug has been approved to help women with a low sex drive is a sign of gender discrimination. They point to the 26 drugs that have been approved for male sexual dysfunction, some of which were fast-tracked and immediately covered by health insurance.

If the guy isn't happening, nothing is happening.

So long as the female can generate a bit of lube, we are good to go.

Feminazis continue to eschew biology.

Wait a minute. I thought wine was already legal. It works to get some women in the mood and has some of those same side effects.

When will they come out with a pill that motivates them to cook & clean? My idea of foreplay is watching her dry my dishes.

Of course medication for male sexual dysfunction was invented first. All they had to do was come up with a pharmaceutical grade of Fix-A-Flat.

For the women, they have to fit an entire Mercedes-Benz in a capsule!

Whatever you do, don't live with her.
That way you can count the drive over as foreplay.

Good idea.

Anymore it's rare for me to let any of them know where I live. I go to their place.

Right. What VIAGRA does is hopefully allow a man "WITH" a desire to have sex, have sex. What they're talking about is a drug to force women to desire sex.....another date rape drug for women.

Viagra does not affect the desire for sex in men, it just helps with the hydraulics. The drug boosts blood flow to the genitals so men can get and sustain an erection. Yet the female libido drug that passed muster at a U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisory panel this week will not live up to the “female Viagra” hype it’s been getting. The new drug, Flibanserin, is designed to alter women’s brain chemistry over time to help increase sex drive. Unlike Viagra, it does not spark an immediate physical change in the body.

Flibanserin is designed to address chronically low sexual desire in woman that causes distress. (The condition is distinct from fluctuations of sexual desire that occur naturally over time.) Exactly how many women experience it has been hard to pin down—one study suggests as many as one in three women, although the pharmaceutical company producing the drug told the FDA advisory panel that about 7 percent of premenopausal women have the condition, according to The New York Times. Women with the condition may still enjoy sex when they are having it but typically do not have the desire to engage in sex in the first place.

The d-man over at DU followed a similar strategy.

"Force" is such strong word. They prefer "coerce".
