It's a fairly well established fact, and I've seen this even written about by several intelligent and honest liberals (few of which you would find at DU, of course), that the vast majority self-styled "progressives" like Mr. Scorpio and his ilk at the DU sewer are astoundingly clueless when it comes to actually knowing what conservatives are saying or their rationale behind it. They don't listen to the "hate radio" they condemn. They've never watched Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly or the other TV pundits they roundly criticize, they read no further than the headline in a news story about a conservative or an opinion piece written by one in order to pass judgement and they don't have an inkling about what actually is said or goes on at a meeting of conservative activists. They even childishly attempt to manipulate what news channel is on the TV of various waiting rooms.
They get all their information about the Right from a narrow collection of "alternative" news sites, liberal blogs, fellow travelers such as Olbermann and Maddow, or other, equally vacuous popular culture moonbats such as Michael Moore, Janeane Garofolo or George Clooney, who they uncritically accept as being infallible. Dogmatic in the extreme, they refuse to even countenance opposing arguments. Witness how at DU they so zealously ban those who don't toe the line and label them as disrupters, even when their arguments are quite civil and reasonable. Boycotts are called for against sponsors of conservative viewpoints in the media. Speakers at universities are shouted down or blocked entirely from appearing. Laws are called for to silence conservative voices by expanding the interpretation of hideous "hate crime" legislation. Links to back up their assertions are often from their own web site. Discussions started by conservatives at neutral web sites are met with handwaving and ad hominem attacks. They seek to exclude the input of vast swaths of U.S. citizens as evidenced by their assertions that men should have no say in the abortion debate and that those not actively serving in the military shouldn't have their pro-defense views acknowledged. Elections which they lose are attributed to some unseen and unproven cabal of people manipulating voting machines. Inconvenient polling numbers are the result of biased pollsters. Their own long term posters who occasionally point out factual errors in one screed or another are subject to accusations of "defending" the conservative who is the subject of the diatribe.
Yet for all their insularity and their doctrinaire approach to politics, they feel they have a bead on what is in "the best interests" of all other U.S. citizens. Those who wish to decide for themselves what those self interests are are labeled as ignorant or brainwashed. Minority citizens who don't march in lockstep with their ideals are branded as self-loathing, sold out turncoats and are to be discounted. They are steeped in the delusion that they somehow represent the mainstream and that their political losses are purely the result of their politicians not pushing far enough into the fringes of Leftist governing.
In short, the modern Far Left, as represented by Mr. Scorpio and his merry band, are a case study in delusional, grandiose, narcissistic and paranoid thought. Entertaining, to be sure, but about as relevant and meaningful to normal people as the jars of formaldehyde-pickled oddities one encounters in the sideshows of a gypsy carnival, and about as insightful as the same.
