Well, it was nice to get the first twinges of spring fever, reading about the DUmmies gardens. I don't know what all the fevered discussions are. The last time I grew potatoes, I just stuck them in the ground, and later on turned them over with a pitchfork. Voila, potatoes.
I don't understand the affection for the purple potatoes. That doesn't seem very appetizing to me. And do they bleed like beets do, getting everything muddy with their insidious purple dye?
That business of "hilling." That never works for me. I tried doing that with pumpkins. Waste of time. First rain, everything flattens out.
